About Me

Hugo was born in Esperanza, Santa Fe, Argentina on January 13 th 1969. He is working as drummer from the age of 14 years old. Hugo has performed and/or recorded with a variety of Artists including: Facundo Bergalli, Alejandro Herrera, Daniel Corzo, Carlos Campos, Andrés Boiarsky, Gustavo Cámara, Juan Pablo Navarro, Pablo Carmona, Leonardo Alvarez, Negro Gonzalez, Filip Wojciechowski, Pablo Olivera, Hernán Jacinto, Marcelo Mayor, etc. Since 1997 he has been worked extensively in Argentina and abroad with the Guillermo Calliero Quartet playing drums and percussion. He was a member of the Jazz Ensamble Big Band from 1997 until 2003, performing all over Argentina and International Jazz Festivals like Punta del Este (Uruguay) and Viña del Mar (Chile) while sharing the stage with world-class performers like Paquito D`Rivera, Conrad Herwig and Ernesto Jodos. In 1998 creates the Hard Bop Group Jazz Mail with Francisco Lo Vuolo and Carlos Michelini In 2000 traveled to Barcelona (Spain) and was member of Taller de Musics and got lessons with Marc Miralta. There, he met Horacio Fumero and Perico Sambeat, who will played with, when Hugo returned to Argentina. He continues studying music with Satoshi Takeishi, Thomas McCutchen and most recently with Junior Cesari and Diego Lutteral. Since 2003 Hugo has worked in the United States , the Caribbean and Europe as an orchestra drummer for Royal Caribbean International. During the course of his stay he performed with entertainers and musicians such as Jim Trimble (Buddy Rich), Stuart Hanratty, Paul Boland, The Drifters, Joey Van, Mark Preston, Graig Earle, Bobby Arvon , Jan Downs and more. Now he is working as a Teacher , as Independent Sesionist and doing Workshops by different states of Argentina, and keep working as the drummer of the Guillermo Calliero Cuartet, Carlos Michelini Sextet and as leader of Jazz Mail Big Band.
