About Me

Cody Robbins and Family Tradition is an incredibly talented cover band out of Wise County Texas that plays the hottest Texas Country, the coolest classic country, and soulful Southern Rock . They play a perfect mix for younger AND older crowds and its all genuine, old school, honky tonk dance music........ Cody currently lives in Sunset, TX with his wife Ginnie and has been singing as long as he can remember. He taught himself to play guitar at 13 just so he could accompany his voice. Growing up in Keller,TX he started out as the bass player in a Glam Rock cover band in high school but eventually turned toward country music. His family moved to Jacksboro,TX the latter part of his high school years. There wasnt much to do out in the country so we would either find pasture parties or sit at the Qwik Stop on tailgates just hanging out, he says. Cody always brought his guitar with him and quickly became known for his ability to lead groups in choruses of Redneck Mother and Margaritaville among others. He played with his dads bands while growing up, but quit after high school. In 2004, after living the words to the country songs he heard as a child, he began to shift back to his roots musically, and in life, then he could contain it no longer. The beast had to be fed, and then came the family tradition band ............... Jerry Robbins has been playing country music for over 40 years and is Codys Dad. In 1991, he began Steel guitar lessons with arguably the best Steel guitar player in the world Maurice, Reece, Anderson. Most recently he was a part of Casey Pilgreen and Born South out of Wichita Falls, when after cutting a CD, his crying steel guitar could be heard on the airwaves in Wichita. With Casey they opened for Charlie Robison, The Great Divide, and Cross Canadian Ragweed among others. He must constantly fight off adoring fans that ogle at his playing abilities. He is the King of Wizard Wells, TX with his Queen Shirley Robbins- also the sound engineer................Tom, Tomcat, Nelson hails from Pennsylvania, or Pennsyltucky as he calls it, originally where he was influenced by his dad who played fiddle. He was quickly taken in by country music and southern rock as a youth and played in his first band at 13. He moved to west Texas in 1993 and continued playing lead guitar in bands opening for such artists as Tracy Byrd, Rick Trevino, and BR549 among others. He has 2 weaknesses in life he says, guitars and motorcycles. Tom joined the Family Tradition in 2006 and has never looked back. He resides in Decatur, TX with his wife Lisa.............................Glenn Austin got his first set of drums on his 14th birthday, and by December played his first live show. After that he was hooked and knew what he wanted to do. Glenn started playing the local club scene with the Cheri King Band, covering north Texas and southern Oklahoma then helped form a band called Diamondback, which played the Dallas club market for a few years. When that band broke up, it was time to hit the road and Glenn hooked up with an Austin based group called Savanah Moon for a year of touring most of the central states. Upon returning home he joined up with the Tennessee Hat Band, which consisted of the touring and recording group for David Allan Coe during the 70s. Tired of the road he settled down, got married, and started a family. Glenn then began work as the drummer at Fairview Baptist Church for about 6 years leading him to play with a Christian rock group, The Pedestrians, opening for many national acts such as Pillar, Tree63, Kutless. After deciding to go back to the club scene, he hooked up with an old friend, Brent Frailicks, who was playing fiddle for Janie Fricke at the time and started doing some gigs with her. He and Brent continued to play many clubs and private parties over the next few years. In the summer of 2007, Glenn got called to hit the road with Vince Vance and the Valiants, touring most of the U.S. through 07. He then returned home and picked up where he left off with Brent. Between club gigs he helped record many projects with local artists and did fill in jobs, which led him to Cody. He currently resides in Celina, TX................................Doug Bridwell has worked for the past several years as bass player with local band King Cone and the Wise Guys, before starting with Cody in 2005, opening for artists such as Jo Dee Messina, Jack Ingram, Joe Nichols and Willie Nelson. Prior to that, Doug was involved in a variety of area groups entertaining around North Texas, playing C&W, bluegrass and gospel music. He began his musical career at Alamo Village, where he was drummer for Johnny Rodriguez, performing with such classic country artists as Tom T. Hall and Bobby Bare. He is a native of Bridgeport, TX where he lives with his wife Lynda. .............................................For Booking info call Cody at: 940-233-0454
