Band reunion show this Saturday - One night only!!

About Me

Hector P. - Erik A. - Hector P. - Victor M. - John H.
OBSCURIDAD BIOGRAPHY In an already saturated Los Angeles rock scene, one group from the San Fernando Valley felt it necessary to create a sound that would separate them from the rest. Unwilling to be labeled as your typical Rock en Español band, Obscuridad created their own brand of rock that can be only be described as simply their own. Undaunted by the lack of support from the mainstream American rock market towards Latin music acts, Obscuridad believes that their music speaks for itself and beyond the native tongue in which the lyrics are sung. Contrary to the bands name, Obscuridad (translated in English meaning darkness) hopes not just to appeal to an expanding Latin Alternative scene, but also enlighten a wider audience beyond their own culture.
Founded in 2000, Obscuridad continues to remain true to their commitment of creating their own signature sound with a cohesive line-up of dedicated musicians. With the recent addition of guitarist Erik Almanza, younger brother of singer Hector Almanza, his presence along with guitarist Hector Polanco, bassist John Hernandez, and drummer Victor Martinez solidifies an already dynamic group determined to create music that represents the realities of todays society.
Over the past six years in the local L.A. rock scene, Obscuridad continues to perform at many of Los Angeles marquee venues such as the House of Blues, Key Club, and B.B. Kings Blues Club. With two previous demo CD releases under their belt, Obscuridad released their third disc, a four song EP featuring 4 blistering tracks in 2005. The CD immediately caught the attention of many fans not only in California, but also across the country and beyond. Obscuridad appeared on the Split Seven Records compilation, L.A. County Line along with many of Los Angeles best local talent. Word of mouth eventually would lead to radio airplay on local radio station Indie103.1FM, featuring various local talents around the greater Los Angeles area. The future continues to look prosperous for Obscuridad as the band prepares to start recording their debut LP and first music video set to be release in the summer of 2006
