I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I nicknamed myself Aaron Cynic back when I was just a young innocent punk rock kid trying to fit in. I never realized that you're not allowed to nickname yourself - even if you're into shamelessly self-promoting your band. Thanks to a love for the past and sneaking love for things self-depricating, I decided to keep it in my life with my e-mail address and pen name.
Yes, pen name implies that I write, which I suppose is why I finally bit the bullet and put myself up on this thing. Perhaps having an updateable blog will get me to actually write more and do more - or perhaps not. Either way all of you dirty little voyeurs will have something to peruse and snicker about from behind your monitors.
Having "cynic" as your supposed last-name becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. I strongly urge against it if you're the type of person who looks at the glass half full. But trust me, I'm not a pessimist - I just tend to believe the glass was filled with poison by some secret government agency.
I'm a fan of conspiracies, both societal and personal. Perhaps everyone is out to get me or it's all in my head - that's for you to psychoanalyze and for me to live with.
I'm a fan of music, movies, art, writing, and all things that don't involve working or money. I hate doing the former and never seem to have the latter. You might think that's related but it's not - just a tragic coincidence. I both love and hate people, I both love and hate aspects of life. I'm opinionated and love to speak my mind. Someday I hope to learn all there is to know in the universe - but I realize the first step to obtaining wisdom is to admit you know nothing at all.
Socrates could've been a genius or colassal drunk.
If you're really that interested in me you should just write me.
Shameless self promotion can be a fun thing

My Interests

I've said it before but I'll say it again - music, movies, writing, reading, art, drinking, fighting, swearing, crappy sci-fi. I love parties and I hate people....... .If you've made it this far then you deserve something more than just this silly little blog profile. Check out (www.diatribemedia.com) for that. While you're at it, visit http://aaroncynic.blogspot.com. and http://www.fallofautumn.com It would help to explain alot if you really want to "know" me. After all, this is only the brief synopsis, as opposed to really getting inside my head like my own personal website does.

I'd like to meet:

Who I'd like to meet is irrelevant. Who I will or might meet is more important. If you're reading this right now, then we've already met in one sense or another.Armchair philosophy can be fun.

Music:

Against Me!, Anti-Flag, The Anti-Heroes, Bad Brains, Bad Religion, Black Flag, Catharsis, Cause For Alarm, Crass, Dag Nasty, (old) Danzig, Dag Nasty, Dead Prez, xDisciplex, The Exploited, FEAR, (old) Fear Factory, Fugazi, From Ashes Rise, Guttermouth, HIM, The Hope Conspiracy, Hot Water Music, Indecision, JFA, Kill Your Idols, xLimp Wristx, Minus The Bear, Nailbomb, No Empathy, Oblivion, Propagandhi, Plan Of Attack, Reggie and the Full Effect, Slayer, Sepultura, Sick Of It All, Suicidal Tendancies, TSOL, Type 0 Negative, Unearth, The Wanderers, Warzone, White Zombie, Youth Of Today...one for almost every letter. As you can see - mostly punk, hardcore, and metal. A little bit of rap, "indie" rock, "ambient electronic," classical, and more. There - you should be happy that you know now whether or not we can be myspacefriends.Mass marketing is really an amazing field. It is amazing how we define ourselves by the things we listen to, read, watch, and overall - consume. The lines of self-definition have become much like filling out a census form. Insert information into box A, B, and C. Now you're profiled. You know yourself and "they" know you. A win win situation? Social Commentary is a fun game

Television:

I once heard a band say "if we had all killed our tv's like all those 80's punk rockers suggested, the world might be a better place." I tend to agree with this. Still though, we all have our weaknesses. Mine lie in The Simpsons, The Family Guy, loads of crappy sci-fi like Stargate SG1 and almost anything created by Gene Roddenberry. I'm also a big fan of the cartoons I grew up with (and no, I don't appreciate them ironically...I never stopped watching GI-Joe and The Transformers, they just stopped making new episodes. Thank God for VCR's.). Channels like the history channel also tend to take up parts of my life I should spend on more valuable things.

Books:

Books by Chomsky, Zinn, Orwell, Vonnegut, and more. I read alot about politics and philosophy - and very little fiction. However I did read Umberto Echo's "Fuccoult's Pendulum" and was blown away. I'm also a big fan of almost everything Robert Anton Wilson does, and I'm growing to love Hunter S. Thompson and Kurt Vonnegut even more these days. I also spend alot of time reading things off of websites like zmag.org, indymedia.org, commondreams.org, counterpunch.org, and the like.
