Desde o início de sua trajetória, em 1985, a banda teve sempre uma ideologia anti-cristã, extremista e claramente satanista.A banda Sarcófago foi criada em 1985, em Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, e contava com a presença de Antichrist nos vocais, Incubus no baixo, Butcher na guitarra e D. D. Crazy na bateria. O vocalista Antichrist havia acabado de sair da banda Sepultura. Não existe um registro de gravação do Sepultura com o primeiro vocalista, mas a parceria está presente no álbum Bestial Devastation, na música "Antichrist".A banda teve seu debut com a coletânea Warfare Noise I (1986), juntamente com as bandas Mutilator, Chakal e Holocausto. Estreou já causando confusão, pois o vocalista Wagner Antichrist estava recém saído da banda Sepultura, alegando diferenças musicais e ideológicas.Não tiveram a mesma sorte do Sepultura, que estourou no mundo inteiro, mas fizeram carreira com vários álbuns, excursões pela Europa e América do Sul. Tiveram seus álbuns lançados na Europa pela Music For Nations, e é uma das bandas mais pirateadas hoje, em seu estilo, no mundo inteiro.---------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------Sarcófago is the most polemic among all Brazilian Heavy Metal bands. Antichrist, who had just left Sepultura, was the singer; Incubus played the bass, Butcher was the guitar player and D.D. Crazy played the drums.
