I am here for Friends

About Me

Well, since I've been in Boston almost a year and a half now, I think it's about time I updated this and told you a bit more about myself. As you can probably tell by the length of time it took me to update this blurb, I am a terrible procrastinator. Unfortunately, I am also a perfectionist... go figure! Anyway, since moving here from England (via a 5 year spell at grad school in Wisconsin) I've been pulled over by Turkish police at 3am after a bender in downtown Istanbul, lost my T-pass about a million times, sold my car, and developed a penchant for orange soda. Apart from that, I still have the same terrible taste in food and the same excellent taste in just about everything else! Oh, and I'm finally making progress in developing that biodegrable plastic I was talking about. Cheers!

My Interests

Music, movies, theater, traveling, camping, ice cream, finding little restaurants and shops which are off the beaten track, and I have been known to do Salsa and swing.

I'd like to meet:

Simple - I'd like to meet anyone who can hold a serious, intelligent conversation at one point, and then suddenly be able to bring into play the state of Paris Hilton's choice in footware the next.

Music:

I go through phases. Sometimes its less main stream music such as The Charlatans, Cocteau Twins, The Clash, Postal Service and the like. Othertimes it's got to be Frank Sinatra and friends. I also have a secret hankering for really bad music such as the Safety Dance... Sssss Aaaaa Fffff Eeeee Ttttt Yyyyy DANCE!

Movies:

Raising Arizona, Withnail & I, Bladerunner, Swingers, Some Like It Hot....the list goes on.

Television:

I hate people who say they don't watch T.V. Even worse, those who make a big deal at parties by saying they don't own a T.V. YES YOU DO! AND YOU WATCH IT TOO!!!

Books:

1) Site-directed mutagenesis of putative active-site amino acid residues of 3,2-trans-enoyl-CoA isomerase, conserved within the low-homology isomerase/hydratase enzyme family.2) Interaction of NADP(H) with oxidized and reduced P450 reductase during catalysis. Studies with nucleotide analogues. Both are really riveting reads!!!

Heroes:

Anyone who still wears spandex
