Having completed our best and last short film, “Hallo Panda”, for The Film Council and Film4 through their Cinema Extreme scheme, we are moving towards feature film-making, helped by the Guiding Lights programme, through which have been mentored by the brilliant Gillies McKinnon.
Featured in Screen International’s “Stars of Tomorrow 2006”, we are self-taught filmmakers who have learnt our craft by our mistakes, our flukes and a lot of hard work. Our previous work includes videos for Steel Pulse (nominated for best music video at Rushes 2007) and Art Brut (voted second in “best cartoon video of all time” by MTV2), the cult documentary “Rocklands” and the BAFTA short-listed films “Russell Square”, “Burnt Bernard” and “Free Speech”, which was also nominated for best film at Rushes in 2004.
We are passionate in our support of British film culture, having mentored and produced films from other directors including Alex Turner’s RTS Student Award nominated animation, “City Spirit”. Ben is on the panel for the BBC Film Network and since 2004 we have been working with Shooting People, the UK’s leading community of independent filmmakers, running their Mobile Cinema, a travelling showcase of shorts by talented new filmmakers in the UK, which has connected us with filmmakers and audiences up and down the country. One of the things that has probably kept us making films since we were teenagers is that the process is so diverse that it enables us to explore a wide range of creative disciplines. Our love of story telling, performance, computers, comedy, art, music, science, philosophy, history and sports all combine in what we think is the best job in the world.
