The extraordinarly ordinary life of Heather

About Me

I'm pretty average. I am not passionate about any particular pursuit or subject. I think I was in college, but then I grew up, got married, got a job and it all just seemed so trivial, so I decided to strive for plainess.

I do like to play some video games. Fighting games are nice stress relievers. MMORPGs bring out the addictive parts of my personality. I'm terrible at FPS games. The bad guys shoot at me, I get scared, panic and die; that's just what I do.

I like to read, a lot, to the point where my husband gets upset because I haven't really spoken to him in days and I stay up late reading. I really only like to read books I almost have to study as I read them. I re-read the Illiad and the Odyssey once every couple of years cross referencing them with several different translations and outside works as I do. Its weird, I know. Other well studied favorites of mine include: Dante's Inferno, The Complete Works of Jane Austin, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy.

I'm married, and have been 2000. I got married at 21, and for most people I know that would have been way to young, but I think it was the right time for Bryan and I. We have a house that is grossly too big for two people, so we tried to look like we really needed that much space by saying we needed a big house for our big dog, a 95lb way over the standard doberman named Bravo.

Yeah, that's about it

My Interests

I like to read, play video games, cook big meals and fancy desserts.

I'd like to meet:

People that let me know exactly where I stand with them. I prefer brutal honesty over meely mouth propriety any day. People I can trust to tell me I'm being stupid when I'm being stupid are the folks I consider true friends.

Music:

My musical tastes have been likened to that of a gay man, and well...I can't argue. My play lists have everything from "The Lusty Month of May" from the musical Camelot to System of a Down's "Chop Suey". Britney Spears is in there, cause hell, it makes me want to dance. I'm not too proud to admit it.

Movies:

I have trouble sitting still through an entire movie. I have even more trouble when I try to watch movies at home since I start to think of all the other things I should be doing. That said, I do appreciate the following movies:

Pride & Prejudice (The A&E mini-series produced by the BBC)
Sense & Sensibility (The one with te screenplay by Emma Thompson)
Emma (Sensing a trend yet?)
The Princess Bride
My Fair Lady
Camelot
That's all I can think of really. Hurray chick flicks!

Television:

I am a completely hopeless Law & Order and Charmed fan.

Books:

Ugh, see the "About Me" section already.

Quick Baby Update

Ben is still a no-show.  Thursday's trip to the doctor showed I'm showing more symptoms of preeclampsia, which means I have to stay off my feet as much as possible.  To that end I'm now stay...
