Eric

It's such a fine line between stupid and clever.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Hmmm, mostly dead folks such as historical figures, philosophers, authors and artists. The people today who are interesting I'll find on my own. The people that popular culture thinks are interesting would bore me to death.

Music:

Django Reinhardt, Howlin' Wolf, Tchaichovsky, Wagner, Johnny Cash, Johnny Horton, Merle Haggard, Brian Setzer, The Drive By Truckers, Dokken, Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, The Reverend Horton Heat, The Supersuckers, Unknown Hinson, Jr. Brown, Van Halen, Shadows Fall, Iced Earth, Dropkick Murphys, AC/DC, CCR, Neil Young, Jimi Hendrix, Ozzy Osbourne, Black Label Society, Warrior Soul, Queensryche, Stevie Ray Vaughn, The Bottlerockets, Paw, Dimmu Borgir, Radiohead, Oasis, Shotgun Messiah, Rancid, The Clash, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Social Distortion, Weezer, Cab Calloway, Trouble, The Beatles, Tesla, Megadeth.... and more. I am all over the board.

Movies:

The Godfather and The Godfather II, Scarface, Goodfellas, The Deer Hunter, Saving Private Ryan, Spinal Tap, The Natural, The Wedding Singer, The Outlaw Josey Wales, Tombstone, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Blazing Saddles... too many to list. Anything with Adam Sandler, DeNiro, or Clint Eastwood guaranteed.

Television:

Basically the NFL, college basketball, cooking shows and The History Channel/Discovery channel type shows. I'm not too big on TV in general though I'll watch the kid shows with my boys: Jimmy Neutron, Jack's Big Music Show, Power Rangers, Tarzan, Higglytown Heroes and the like.

Books:

Rather than limit to specific books I'd rather list some of my favorite authors. Bernard Cornwell - A historical novelist who has a gift for transporting the reader another time and place. Stephen King - He can scare the bejesus out of you or weave a tale which renders you incapable of putting the book down. John Keegan - The pre-eminent historian on warfare and the small threads that make up the big picture. Larry McMurtry - Pulitzer winning author who is unmatched in his character development and tales of the West. Umberto Eco - No other other enthrals me so quickly yet gives me headaches trying to understand and keep up with his intellect.

Heroes:

The word "hero" is so overused. I'll tell you those who aren't my heroes: Sports figures who are only "heroes" because they are athletically gifted. Politicians who are more concerned with keeping power and their jobs and won't risk these to help the working poor and the others who most need it. Actors who think I give a rip about their political opinions. You are an actor with a skewed perspective on the world so shut up already.
