About Me

I don't understand people (myself included).
I once won a gigantic elephant at an amusement park ring-toss game.I'm drawn to scars, as with any other place where boundaries start to break down.

My Interests

Photography (Haven't taken any important pictures lately, but that doesn't stop me from expecting that more will come), Road Trips, Concerts (My favorite bands and new ones, too.), Hiking, Getting lost in a good book, Water (Kayaking, Swimming, Snorkeling, Just going to the beach and staring at the Ocean-- being away from it for almost 3 years was too long!), Thrift Store Shopping, Cooking, Listening to 'This American Life' Archives, Dreams, Edward Gorey, Skin, Fireflies, Traveling the World very slowly.
What else? I have an unhealthy love for cheese. When I was living in the middle of nowhere in Ethiopia I had some serious cheese fantasies. The guy at the cheese counter in the Hilton in Addis Ababa knew me personally even though I was only in town every few months. Corsets are very sexy. On me, not on men. My Chinchilla-- Have you every felt one? They're soo soft. Some other stuff... bonfires, sleeping in especially under my cozy down comforter, earl grey, cow in a can toys, italian food, laughing my ass off, the warm car feeling... any little thing that makes me smile.

I'd like to meet:

YOU... Seriously, why would I want to limit who I bring into my life before I ever meet them and get to know what they're all about? (Whoops that was such a lie. There are a ton of people in this big old world of ours that I have no desire to spend more than five minutes with, but people are fascinating creatures aren't they?)Having said that, here are some people that I'd be extra interested in meeting:Goat-owners. I love goats and I don't have much of a chance of being able to own one in the near future.
2 seater Kayak owners who need someone to fill the second seat.
People who like to go to goth/industrial clubs in LA.

Music:

A Silver Mt. Zion, Tool & Perfect Circle, Radiohead, Godspeed You Black Emperor, Velvet Acid Christ, Pixies, old Tori Amos, Nouvelle Vague, Bjork, Arst & Pfush, sometimes I like noisy weird stuff like Mr. Bungle or Diamanda Galas, Jane’s Addiction, Pigface, ween, Iron & Wine, Portishead, Leather Strip, Dog Fashio Disco, Nine Inch Nails, Sarah McLachlan (I guess she's no longer a guilty pleasure now that I've admited it on Myspace. I'll have to look for a new one), Pink Floyd, Listening to Blues Breakers on Sunday nights on 99.9 FM, PJ Harvey, Skinny Puppy, 'happy' songs by the Cure-- think Just Like Heaven, The Wet Spots, Here, Hole

Movies:

Chocolat, Delicatessen, Uzumaki, La Communidad, Fight Club, Donnie Darkco, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Cronenburg's films-- especially Crash and Existenz, most of John Waters' films, Most of Tim Burton’s, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Blue Velvet, Audition, Pan's Labyrinth, Tetsuo: Iron Man, too many cheesy horror flicks to list; some of the best: Evil Dead, Hellraiser, Dead Alive, Motel Hell.

Television:

No Cable Here.

Books:

The Unbearable Lightness of Being, The Master and Margarita, anything by Tom Robbins but especially Another Roadside Attraction (I'm named after that particular Amanda), Paint it Black, House of Incest, The Wind-Up Bird Chronicles, The New Yorker magazine (& I used to think it was just for cartoons!)Art/Photo: Sally Mann, Alfredo Jarr, Andres Serrano, Mark Tansey to name a few. I find that the artists whose work I am drawn to move me primarily on a visceral level and secondarily on an intellectual level.
