'However...' It's funny how that one word changes so much.

About Me

There's not much to me, really. I'm interested in all kinds of things and like to think of myself as being pretty open-minded. Well, I at least try to hear people out and see their views, even if I don't agree with everything they may think. I enjoy writing---namely poetry but I do occasionally write short stories. I love learning new things and do my best to figure things out on my own, for better or for worse. I fight in the SCA but want to learn to make period items (leathercraft) and maybe even give archery a try. I'm also gearing up to get into heavies combat, which should be a total blast. I'm currently plugging through school and plan on getting a real job but would love it if I could make a living make things for the SCA (like I'd pass up a chance to actually have fun doing something for a living, ha!). I'm also constantly developing my persona. It's a never ending task, I swear. I don't like politics or people that play both sides. I try to be as upfront as possible without being rude, but don't ask me a question wanting me to beat around the bush (if you want me to lie to you, at least give me fair warning ;). I can get moody, especially if I haven't been able to write in a while. A lot of my work reflects how I feel at the moment, so a lot of my stuff is subject to change but I promise I don't bite! In short, I'm a great big nerd but love people. :)
On a side note, I'm almost done with school! Geez, talk about something taking long enough. Once I'm done killing myself over the quarter coming up (dear God how am I going to survive taking 23 units??) I only have one more left. When everything is said and done I'll have two AA's (one in Marketing and one in Criminal Justice---yes, I made a bit of a major change heh), and a BA in Criminal Justice with a minor in Sociology. Not only that but by the time I get done with school, I should be getting ready to start with the LASD or have already started. (Woohoo for an instant pay increase.) After my stint at the jails is complete and I get past my probationary period with the department (the two of these will take anywhere from a year and a half to two years, give or take) I plan on moving to the eastcoast to be closer to job ops out there as well as other people, places and things.

My Interests

My interests include art of all kinds, books, fencing (sca baby ;), friends, history, interesting people, learning, leathercraft, poetry, video games (currently WoW [Hellsblade- DE rogue] and City of Heroes [Chaos' Fury- stone/stone tank] on the PC, Fable: TLC and Halo2 online on Xbox), writing, tennis, poker (hold 'em mainly), music and anything else that can hold my interest. If y'all are on Halo2 and want to team up, hit me up on XboxLive. Gamertag: Hourglass. Just let me know why you're adding me. lol

I'd like to meet:

Anyone in the SCA or just interesting people in general.Oh! And this guy.

Music:

All kinds! The Shins, Linkin Park, Disturbed, Coldplay, Guns N' Roses, Nirvana, lots and lots more.

Movies:

Sky High (!!), Gladiator, The Incredibles, Garden State, Lord of the Rings series, Harry Potter, The Hot Chic, Monty Python and the Search for the Holy Grail, Young Frankenstien, How to Loose a Guy in 10 Days, Pirates of the Carribean, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Kill Bill Volumes 1 and 2

Television:

CSI: Las Vegas, Law & Order (the first, SVU and CI), Friends re-runs, Will & Grace, South Park, Family Guy, I'll watch anything poker related, the History channel, SciFi network, MTV and occasionally VH1

Books:

The Legend of Huma, the Dragonlance series, the Forgotten Realms series, the Anita Blake series, anything Stephen King really (Misery's awesome)

Heroes:

The people that make it possible for us to live the lives we're accustom to. Anyone that makes sacrifices for the things the believe in. My granny. She's had a hard life but has come through the other end with shining colors. There is so much people could learn from someone like her, but most are too self-centered, narrow minded, or concerned with material things to ever listen to what someone like her would say. If anything I regret the fact that I never had the chance to see her more often, but could have done more to call or write her. I know that's something I'm always going to think about. As her end comes, I just hope she knows that I miss her already, respect her more than she will ever know, and most of all that I love her.
