About Me

.. Myspace Layout Generator-Layoutgen.com
I love history and rare books. It is one of the major reasons that I am a flight attendant. I get to fly all over Europe, especially England and am able to see the places that I read about and haunt the antique bookshops. I love museums, especially the sex museums, which carry the items that the normal museums won’t. I have been to the one in New York and the one in Amsterdam. I have to say I liked the New York museum better because it had a gift shop with very cool t-shirts. I’m probably not the best person to go to a museum with either because I can’t keep my hands to myself – I am always trying to touch things that I am not suppose to (smile). I am obsessed with 19th century social history, especially life in London. I find the darker side of the human spirit fascinating; there was a quote by a lady back in 1700s that stated something to the fact that the more proper society is on the outside the more deviant they are behind closed doors. How true was that in the Victorian era? All you have to read is a few memoirs that were once banned such as My Secret Life by Walter to see how deviant it truly was. Or pick up any Victorian newspaper and you will find advertisements for corporal punishment. However fascinating the Victorian period is to me, I still find myself going back to the Regency period – perhaps because of my interest in people like Lord Byron, Caroline Lamb, etc. I still think there has been to major crimes to literary history and that was the burning of Lord Byron’s memoirs and also the burning of the Earl of Rochester’s memoirs (he was played by Johnny Depp in Libertine). When I am not ensconced in historic tomes or trekking around museums or manor houses (since I am attempting to write a book about Regency London), I am home taking care of my animals. I have 2 cats, 6 semi-aquatic turtles, and 2 tortoises. I’ll have the turtles and tortoises for the rest of my life so if I ever decide to marry again (which is doubtful) they will definitely have to like reptiles. I don’t have time for people that treat animals poorly or think that they are pieces of property and not living, feeling creatures, which also means I have no interest in people that hunt. I also can laugh at myself and my silliness, so I can’t tolerate people who take themselves too seriously. Life is about having fun and having no regrets so stop reading this and go out and have some fun – perhaps if I am in your neighborhood we can have some fun together (smile).

My Interests

Writing, Traveling, Photography, Music, anybody with a sense of humor - if you can appreciate old John Waters films - obviously pre-hairspray - you are my type of person, History, especially English History - love the regency period and Victorian, I love being outdoors, doing anything exciting and daring, attempting to make this world a better place before I go.

I'd like to meet:

"If you like Pina Coladas, And getting caught in the rain, If you're not into yoga If you have half a brain, If you'd like making love at midnight, In the dunes on the Cape, Then I'm the love that you've looked for, Write to me and escape." (Just Teasing – Laugh!) Seriously I travel a lot so I really enjoy meeting fascinating and adventurous people around the U.S. and Europe maybe that is you?

Music:

I am really into singer/songwriters here are a few: Leonard Cohen, Jeff Buckley, David Gray, Elvis Costello, Melissa Etheridge, Bruce Springsteen, Nick Cave, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Glenn Frey and Don Henley, John Eddie, etc. I love old punk bands, old rock bands, I haven’t been keeping up with new bands lately so if you have any good ones you would like to share – please let me know…

Movies:

Anything with a historical setting. I love movies about Lord Byron - especially GOTHIC. Anything absurd like old John Waters films.

Television:

I love the history channel, travel channel, History International, etc. But when I want to laugh I have to watch RENO 911

Books:

I am really into first hand accounts and books written in Regency Period or Victorian Period. When I was in my teens and early twenties I was really into Vampire novels like Ann Rice but there was a great book that I re-read at least once a year it was so great - It is called Delicate Dependency by Michael Talbot - it is the best Vampire Novel I have ever read. This book cannot be loaned out to anyone because you will never get it back - it is that good. I also love Christopher Moore books, how can you not love novels with titles like: Practical Demonkeeping, Lust Lizard of Melancholy Cove, Island of the Sequined Love Nun, etc. I also have the guilty pleasure of reading Historical Romances when I am flying (why not I love history) Some great authors are: Julia Quinn, Kat Martin, Sabrina Jeffries, Catherine Coulter, Suzanne Enoch, etc.

Heroes:

“We have every right to dream heroic dreams. Those who say that we're in a time when there are no heroes, they just don't know where to look. (R. Reagan - January 20, 1981)”
