About Me

ABOUT ME:
Well, I'm just your average girl ... if, to you, average girls get a degree just to make sure that they'd know how to deal with children, since they're the only child in their families. ...So if that describes your schema, swell! You've obviously hit the right place.
I live with my husband, Bruce and Zoe (our twins), and our two cats in our own house in the Willamette Valley. (Does that make me a Valley girl?? *blink*)
I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS). Michael and I were married in the Portland Temple on a beautiful March day. He's one of my best friends, I'm happy to say.
I grew up in a small town in southern Oregon, but lived in Seattle for a year (culture shock, to say the least!).
I still am figuring out what to do with myself, since my main goals were to graduate from college (done!) and to get married (done!) and to have kids (done! For now, that is. We're taking a breather until the munchkin brigade's out of diapers.). I'm getting used to mommyhood. It's so strange. As much as I always wanted to have kids, the idea of it freaked me out. But, I'll have to admit, it can be really fun.

My Interests

Likes: lots of stuff including chocolate, Michael, my kiddos, cats, baby animals, platypuses (platypi?), giraffes, reading, email, my kids, lip gloss, clouds, the ocean, otters, finches, Anime, manga, Michael, cartoons, comics, listening to music, reading, swimming, shopping, singing, going to church, visiting teaching, making Bruce and Zoe laugh, reading, taking pictures, dressing up, spending time solo with Michael, reading, spending time with my friends ...did I mention reading?
Dislikes: sleep deprivation, bad things happening to people due to bad decisions on someone else's part, people being mean, genocide (etc., etc., so forth), puppy-kickers, mold and mildew, the avian flu, shirts that are too short, tripping over my pant legs when going downstairs, plaque, gratuitous violence and profanity,
Adores: My family, my friends, mental_floss magazine, Glamour magazine, a clean house, Gingi-cat, thehungersite.com, mormonchic.com, and blogging (if you need fun blogs to read, just let me know! Especially those written by much cleverer moms than me!).

I'd like to meet:

WHO I'D LIKE TO MEET:
You mean anyone living or dead?
I'd choose the live one, of course. I'm not stupid, you know.

Seriously, though: Ghandi, John the Beloved, Hugh Laurie, Steve Martin, Rowan Atkinson, Clinton Kelly and Stacey London, Gwen Stefani, Alan Cumming, Will Ferrel, Jack Black, Steve Carell, Grace Kelley, Oscar Wilde, Winston Churchill, Gordon B. Hinckley (although I *was* once in the same room as he was), Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Jasper Fforde, Will Thomas, John and John of They Might Be Giants, Alfred Yankovic, Jennifer Coolidge, Parker Posey ... yeah, people like that. ^_^

Music:

I listen gladly to nearly all music.
I listen with witnessed less enthusiasm to country or rap. Everything else is rather swell. As long as there aren't too many naughty words that I have to "edit" when I scream ... I mean sing along. ^_^ (Especially since I'm all mom-ed out, I try to keep the air around my babies --and myself-- profanity-free.)

Movies:

I like too many, really. It depends on my mood. I love anime. I also like Edwardian or Georgian Era (hard to tell them apart, since I don't know much about England's royalty or their reigns so much. My bad!) books made into movies (they often make more sense that way) ... Jackie Chan films, comedies, the Mormon film genre (naturally), action, thrillers ... I loved The Ring, Ring 2, Ringu, and The Village. I like musicals (including Moulin Rouge and Bride and Prejudice)...
Other favorites would include: While You Were Sleeping, The Last Unicorn, Labyrinth, The Dark Crystal, French Kiss, So I Married an Axe Murderer, the Austin Powers movies, Pixar films, Johnny English, the Mr. Bean videos, A Charlie Brown Christmas (I LOVE it!!!), Sabrina (the classic one, with Bogey and Hepburn), Serenity (If only there were more seasons of Firefly), Bend It Like Beckham, Even Almighty, Little Manhattan, Waitress, etc., etc., and so forth ....

Television:

House M.D., Bones, My Family, Keeping Up Appearances, My Hero, So You Think You Can Dance, How to Lokk Good Naked, American Idol, Beauty and the Geek, America's Next Top Model, Dirty Jobs, What Not to Wear, Miami Ink, nearly anything on TLC, Discovery Channel, National Geographic, or Animal Planet. ... Yes, I'm a bit geeked out, huh?

Books:

Lynn Kurland, Will Thompson, Carole Nelson Douglas, Garth Nix, Tamora Pierce, Robin McKinley, Joshilyn Jackson, Shanna Swendson, J.K. Rowling, Lloyd Alexander, Lilian Jackson Braun, ... and many, many others.I read a lot. I'll try to update this in the near future.

Heroes:

Michael, my mom, President Gordon B. Hinckley, Jesus Christ, and lots or others.
