Artist: Adebisi:This is B.L.A.X (Black Life And Xperience. ent). B.L.A.X is more than just a company, it’s a real life experience. An experience built off of a hustling desperation to succeed, to be known, to make history. Founded in 2001 B.L.A.X was built as a means for creative artist to control their own destiny. Adebisi represents the sound of B.L.A.X. The clear cut no nonsense victorious voice of hustling winners worldwide. Adebisi stands alone as a rare artist cut from a different cloth unlike most emcee’s in the game today. Representing the cold streets of Milwaukee, WI, Adebisi has been spreading his unique brand of hip hop across the Midwest and throughout the United States since 1999. Since the release of his debut solo album “The Street Scholar†in August 2005, Adebisi has set out to claim himself King of the brewing Milwaukee hip hop scene. Adebisi’s style, in its true essence, can be defined in two words, “Street Knowledgeâ€; which is exactly what Adebisi has been delivering to fans all across the nation since the release of his debut album “The Street Scholarâ€.
Adebisi’s launched his professional music career in 1999 as he was attending the University of Wisconsin-Parkside while performing with the label Cream City Records. After successfully releasing the “Lucky & Reign Supreme EP†in 2000 with producer LP, and emcee Tom Wood the group then went on to perform locally around Milwaukee. Some major highlights would include taking first place amongst a crowd of 700 in the UW Parkside talent showcase, and getting the opportunity to open up for Geffen Records R&B singer Avant. Other moments would include traveling to Ottawa, Canada for the Canada Music Festival and headlining at “The Bash on Ash†in Phoenix, AZ. After attaining local success, the group and label soon split up in early 2002. Soon after the split, Adebisi formed B.L.A.X (Black Life And Xperience ent, LLC) as a label to independently release his future artistic endeavors.
In late 2002 Adebisi linked up with Racine, WI native Dylan Thomas to begin work for his solo album “The Street Scholar.†Simultaneously, Adebisi set out to gain recognition by performing at various open mic venues around Milwaukee. Eventually Adebisi received praise among the open mic community and featured at The Mecca’s “Harvest moon Celebration.†At this time he independently released a compilation of poems titled “A Psalm for the ghetto: from my block to yoursâ€.
In early 2003, Adebisi independently released the “Street Scholar Mix Cd†as a pre cursor to his forthcoming album “The Street Scholarâ€. He was also one of the many featured artist on the Midwest compilation “The Collective: vol. 1â€, which was produced by Dylan Thomas. One of Adebisi’s most memorable moments of 2003 would have to include having the opportunity to open up for KRS ONE at the Latino Community Center. All this was done while maintaining hosting duties for “Lyrical Sanctuary†a monthly open mic series at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee for S.C.O.P.E (Student Creative Outreach Providing Entertainment).
2004 provided light and insight for Adebisi as his company B.L.A.X began to show signs of promise. After featuring on “Analyst presents The Collective: vol. 2â€, and promoting “Reggae Tuesday’s†at Treats (a local hotspot) Adebisi’s stock as a reputable performer began to rise on the local scene.
If 2004 was the promise, then 2005 was the fulfillment of the promise with the release of his full length album “The Street Scholar†in late August. The album was met with excellent reviews, and critical local acclaim. To this date Adebisi, and B.L.A.X have managed to move 1000 plus albums off of shear grinding alone. Some other memorable moments of 2005 would include the many performances across University of Wisconsin campuses, opening up for Angie Stone, being featured on local act The Rusty P’s latest L.P “The Rusty P’s vs. Milwaukeeâ€, performing in Atlanta, GA at “The Royal Peacock†for the DCE (Dream Catchers Entertainment) talent showcase during Break magazine’s weekend break, and performing on “The Underground Talent Mart†an Atlanta based showcase, which is locally broadcast across 6 eastern states on public access television.
The grind as well as the game never stops, and neither does Adebisi. In 2006 Adebisi set out to take over the Midwest upon the release of the cd single “Come Get Thisâ€. Adebisi also embarked on a five city tour with the legendary Wise Intelligent of the group Poor Righteous Teachers, he also toured behind his latest cd single “Come Get Thisâ€. The future is looking clear for the General of B.L.A.X. The movement is on, the time is now!
