Mal Blackie armed with guitar arrived on the Irish shores in the early ninties landing in the lap of the gods at Turners bar Cork city-a brief introduction to Hank wedel of Open kitchen and Princess street and Cork guitar hero Bobby Lee and Mal jumped the stage and it all began to rock and roll.
Mal's distinctive voice has being compared to the great soul singers of the 60's and 70's ( Stevie Wonder/Marvin Gaye/ John Martyn,this coupled with his awe inspiring songwriting out stretches the realm of singer songwriter and has gained him much respect within the Irish music scene.
Mal has toured - collaborated and recorded with the best of them most notably Vic Christian of The Christians-Kila-Open Kitchen-Bobby Lee and the list goes on.These recordings we're done at Simon Taylors studio in Caherdaniel Co. kerry.
