My paintings convey a space where symbols have lost all connection to their origins. The arbitrary boundaries created by society are pulled apart in order to reveal the absurd paradox that underlies the search for self. Guided by a ghastly light the figures that are brought forth reduce themselves to pure physicality as they lose all sense of identity. The metaphysical nature of this illumination seeks to fragment human physicality while shedding light onto internal and external mirror realities, partnered by a looming world of antagonistic shadows.The human figure is constantly distorted, mutilated, and degraded, illustrating the existential despair that is wrought of the inability to attain integrity amidst uncertainty. As the figures attempt to converge with their external environment, a contradiction is unveiled and their inherent vulnerability is exposed. It is this vulnerable space I seek to capture, wrought with cryptic symbols, where one is compelled to consummately confront the transitory nature of existence.
