gawk at Aussie duo Lismore's blond-bombshell frontwoman and brooding beatsmith...
Electrorash
Although that’s not to suggest that Lismore is in the business of banger-making. Their instrumentation is far too sophisticated and interesting, and the beats too unhurried to ‘tear apart’ the average electro dancefloor. They make instead slightly dirty, vocal led, 80s inspired pop with touches of guitar and 8-bit, songs that immediately capture your attention and set your head to nodding.
Advance Copy
Absorbing the cold electro of Adult and the brashness of Shiny Toy Guns, "I'm Ready" unfolds from the most minimal of electro to a hot club track.
Redthreat
What sucks about this summer is that Lismore decided to not come to Chicago on their tour across the country. Super. Weak. Who dropped the ball on picking that one up? WTF. Penelope and Stephen are a duo that definitely knows how to rock. They’ve hit the blogs hard, and there is much to be said for their live performance, but I obviously wouldn’t know anything about that yet. After doing a bunch of shows with AC Slater, wrapping up what’s left of their tour in the East, and heading back to BK to do a show with Ninjasonik and Cobra Krames, all I got are these tracks to tide me over until I visit at some point. I gotta get my ass to New York this summer even if it kills me, or my wallet. Hey, New Yorkers- what’s a good weekend?

inally i get around to feature lismore! australian-born penelope and ohio-bred stephen are currently residing in new york and are working on their new album. we have been sending mails back and forth for quite a while now but i have always missed out on actually featuring them on the blog, yeah all right, blame me and my inbox disorder! lismore are touring the states in early to mid may along with ac slater and joee irwin on the "that's right bitches" tour.
with their new track 'more', a great piece of electro-flavoured synth-pop, lismore make sure to set the floor on fire and keep you longing for 'more'.
big stereo
Lismore is heading off for a West Coast tour and in celebration have dropped a new track - “Moreâ€!! Keeping in Lismore tradition the song is pure pop drenched in synth that’ll have you shaking and dancing. “More†puts Lismore at the top of their game… and uh, leaves up wanting more. Luckily there will be more soon with remixes by Lismore themselves and AC Slater.
local indie
Lismore previews release put them in the map of all Indie and Electro-pop enthusiast. with their new album arriving soon and them kicking a West Coast tour with AC Slater, the world awaits with anticipation; lucky for the world Lismore released a song to create excitement for their up and coming album, and if this song is a reflection of what is to come, daddy bring it on.
giant realm
The sticky sweet synth melodies of Penelope's lead synth are contrasted heavily by Stephen's grimy bass synth riffs and the occasional tendency to shout "MOTHERF$@RS" at the top of their lungs. Don't let the rough edges fool you, however, as their music is nice and juicy, with plenty of hooks and singalong choruses to keep even the most jaded post-twee kid from running back to New Order. ...They've since been dropping in for amazing shows throughout Brooklyn and Manhattan and are poised to trek back to the West Coast with AC Slater in tow for a mini-tour in April.
fantastic weapon
I think this Lismore shit bangs a little harder than that Ladytron shit. Oh and how cute is this chick’s voice? Actually, how cute is this chick all together? Good news, America: Lismore is on their way out from NYC, and unlike everyone else, THEY WON’T BE SKIPPING L.A.!–The duo will be at Cinespace for one of those Dim Mak Tuesdays on May 6th. That’s the day after cinco de mayo so I suggest you take a listen and if you dig, make it a point not to get too wasted the night before because they “nvr strike in 1 place 2wice.†ba dum ch! Silas made a funny. Anyway, these cats own my life tonight.
fuck you on friday
Lismore took over Brooklyn last year.

One group of spectacular people that we can’t get enough of is Lismore. We absolutely
bravo tv blog
Caught Lismore at the NY Couture's Fashion Week afterparty. And I'm forever changed. Named for a remote town in the Australian outback, this pop outfit delivers speaker rattling synths over bouncing beats bound to get you dancing fast and hard for the rest of your life.
i heart comix (joee irwin)
LISMORE have been doing really good for themselves! It's probably because they're fun and they rock! And they make happy and they make smile and they love video arcades. I think I'm crushing on them...like a lot! And they are my fantasy!
palms out sounds
Lismore are the freshest of the fresh, piping hot straight out the pizza ovens of BK. We love them like cats love catnip, in that way that isn't just happiness; that takes on a sort of mad scientist's fiery excitement. They're also super cuties, and we sure love cuties. Smooch to Lismore!
pound for pound
Finally, we end up almost at my doorstep with the Palms Out Sounds party at Hugs (108 N. 6th St) This one has been a hit right away, as one of the best music blogs around brings in their favorite DJs and bands. Tonight is no exception, you'll especially want to catch Lismore live, really great stuff from a band that deserves more attention.
bigstereo (misstoats)
Lismore sounds like Matt & Kim’s cousins from the wrong side of the tracks. A little grimier, a little less pop-y and a little more of an edge. But it sounds to me like they have a sound that would be even more enhanced and engaging live. Lucky for you, they are embarking on tour at the end of this month so go check ‘em out…
you ain't no picasso (matt)
I decided to check out Lismore before heading to tonight’s show. I think I made a very good decision. Lismore sound like a wicked collaboration between Ladytron and Daft Punk. Vocals are chopped and sped up, synth riffs are cloned and layered. And though “All That You Are†doesn’t show it, a lot of stuff from their listening station has some wildly addictive bass lines. Here’s looking forward to tonight.
The Portland Mercury (mike williams)
Evolving out of the primordial ooze of electroclash, punk, house music, and every other genre/sub-genre of music that makes you want to shake your ass, Lismore has risen. They bring to the world all the wonderful things you love about music: raw energy, explosive live performances, stellar production, big bass, beautiful vocals, and they splice it together into one perfect being. Then, just when you start feeling stuck like the Geico Caveman on the evolutionary chart, Lismore reaches down with their divine hands, and pulls you into the light.
The Indie Dancefloor
"Next on my list are Lismore, a really cool electronica band. They have a new EP out called All That You Are via Cult Hero Records. They're a similar to Junior Boys or The Tough Alliance, even though another NYPC essemblance comes up. Last.fm calls them indietronica. I can live with that. ...you can watch the video for their new song Paradis and I highly recommend listen to the remix of Grand National's By The Time I Get Home, There Won't Be Much Of A Place For Me. Long title, niiice remix. Of course, you should listen to the other songs of Lismore aswell. Pffsh."
