Get It Loud In Libraries is an award winning, Lancashire County Council backed project that is designed to offer the library a new teenage identity!
We showcase some of the hottest new bands, in a friendly intimate venue before they hit the mainstream.
We recently won the Love Libraries Award and has put libraries on the pages of Q and Vogue-engaging a whole new younger audience. It shows how great pop music is key to the cultural health of a city.
This is the Official “Get It Loud In Libraries†Street Team Page!

Lucy and The Caterpillar
"So this Saturday im playing at Lancaster Library.
The gig is such a good idea. Libraries are amazing so
playing in one will be a pleasure...
lots of books to read :)
I hope ya'll be there. Im bringing merch,
which includes c.ds, badges, vinyl"
So what did Lucy make of GILIL?
"So the gig went well, there were alot of youngens there.
"I know I sing about wine alot but I'm not trying to influence it in anyway!" I say nervously but luckily the Bumble Bee song and my animal song payed off in the end. The thing is I do sing about wine alot but... a glass of wine a day is healthy right?
So yeah the gig went well and my little merch stand looked lovely. I sold some bits and signed an autograph. Usually when I do gigs, its quite stressful.. the sound men sometimes dont really know how to use the sound... so I must say thankyou for a stressfree gig. Very organised. Just how i like it. And the thing is they are doing it for kids who are into music. Alot of venues don't let kids who are under 16 in.. so well done!"
Love Libraries Announce Their Winner!
"The groundbreaking project from Lancaster Library won the award, beating off tough competition from rival finalists Birmingham, Derbyshire, Grangetown and Lambeth library services. The Love Libraries Award celebrates the fantastic work libraries do to encourage more young people through the doors to discover all the great things libraries have to offer. Lancaster Library is breathing new life into the service, with some of the hottest new bands performing exclusive gigs in the library and bringing in diverse crowds."
