M.a.D. Candle Works on myspace Our hand carved candles are a wonderful, personalized gift from the heart.David and I (Mary) started our candle business M.a.D. Candle Works in 2002. We started out making our candles in a small room (no kidding, we made a room out of a walk-in closet in our apt.) Since then we have increased our customer base to retailers in the Gatlinburg area, wedding chapels and built a website. May of 2006 we opened a retail shop at the Mountain Mall downtown Gatlinburg, but with running a demanding business full time, and a loving family all the time it was not balancing out. Family comes first and the retail shop must be put on the plan of dreams. So it is back to the home base. (We will miss all of you at the Mall...) By following simple burning instructions, the outside of your candle will not melt. Enjoy the peaceful glow through the windows of ribbons and bows every time you light your candle. Each candle core is hand dipped many times into different layers of colored wax, which, when carved, all reveal the beauty of the candle from within. After the desired layers of colors have been added and while candle is warm, the wax is hand carved, sculpted, and fashioned with special tools. Once they cool, they are hand dipped into a special acrylic, which protects the outside of each candle from heat, and prolongs its life and beauty. Only the center of the candle burns - not the outside. Votive candles are used as needed, in the well, to keep the candle lit. Easy to follow burning instructions are included with candle. Our hand carved candles can be customized for any occasion; an everlasting heirloom from your wedding, birthdays, anniversaries, any holiday - personalize your candle by adding a favorite picture, verse, announcement or figurine.Please contact us for details!
