Chris Nathan stands over six and a half feet tall, playing multiple instruments, with a voice that will make even the most jaded individual stop everything they are doing just to listen.
Growing up in a family full of music (both parents played professionally), Chris found himself at a lot of roots music festivals. "I was that dirty hippie baby running around at the festivals, banging on drums and making noise." These days Chris is making a different type of noise, a noise worth listening to.
Roots music has always been in his soul since the day he was born.
"I remember being back home and my parents would put on records and tapes of some of the seldom heard greats. I don't remember singing along to them, I just remember listening. But my mom did tell me I busted my crib in half jumping up and down screamin’, I’m a hunka hunka burnin love! I never understood it back then but hearing me sing today I see where my music comes from and why it sounds like it does."
Moving to Nashville from Buffalo, NY, Chris wanted to become the best musician and songwriter he could be. He quickly found that being in a town with thousands of songwriters trying to do exactly what he was doing only made him work harder. This hard work is finally beginning to pay off for Chris. Not only is he building a die-hard fan base in Nashville, it's spreading virally across the world.
During his first visit to Nashville, Chris performed at a few local writers nights, quickly gained some attention, and landed a house gig before he moved to Tennessee. It didn’t take long for him to find the sponsors he needed to record his first demos, providing him with the musical ammo to begin his search for a recording deal.
Since then, the demos caught the attention of long time friend, Multi-Platinum Producer, & Songwriter Terry Sawchuk. Chris and Terry immediately began to collaborate on his first album, feverishly writing songs together over the phone, Terry in Seattle and Chris in Nashville.
The first song they worked on together was called "Talk To", which quickly turned into something special, it turned into the title track, one of the true gems on Chris’s new CD, "Words".
On a trip to Tampa, to play a private party, Chris got one of those breaks that rarely come along. Through a friend of a friend, he booked a show at a new club in Tampa, The World of Beer. That night, Chris caught the full attention of the owner, Scott Zepp, who offered to help Chris by investing his time and money to fund his debut CD project. "Words" will officially release on October 5th, 2007 and soon after will be available on all download sites, including iTunes. It is the perfect blend of Pop/Rock and Soul...and just might be one of the strongest debut Indie CD's ever made.
