My name is Andrew Lloyd and I play bass. I enjoy the challenges associated with playing my electric and upright basses in a wide variety of settings. I hold a bachelors degree in jazz studies from Wayne State University, which I obtained after undertaking preliminary studies at Berklee College of Music.
I have performed with a cross section of Detroit/Ann Arbor/Toledo area jazz musicians and ensembles, including (but not limited to) Larry Nozero, Don Swindell, Ed Nuccilli, Michael Zaporski, Pathe Jassi, Sean Blackman, Steve Wood, Wendell Harrison, Charles Bowles, Matt Michaels, Tony Viviano, Bess Bonnier, Jack "Pee Wee" Matisse, Claude Black, and Cornelius "JuJu" Johnson.
I am actively involved in symphonic playing and have logged many performances with the Royal Oak Symphony and the International Symphony Orchestra of Port Huron/Sarnia. Ongoing interest in an ever expanding body of solo literature for the double bass inspired the formation of a double bass trio (and sometime quartet), consisting of myself, John Dana, Don Lewandowski and Dan Frohardt-Lane.
