my birth was a freak of nature: conceived in a discotheque in Queens and born in a sushi restaurant in roppongi, the rhythm was infused in my bones. as a child i was taught to harness the power of the beat by an ageing japanese breakdancer, Sensei Otafuku, japan's leading bodypopper and karate expert, who combined the contemporary disco forces and the ancient art of karate both to look unbelievably slick and as a method of self defence. his sartorial excellence and sophistication was taught to me until i too looked the part of a disco ronin.returning to england, i spent several years honing the power and the force. on more than one occassion life has demanded that I protect young discoers from catastrophy: - poor technique and hideous dress sense. holding a mirror up to the shame and bile of contemporary dance, my quest is to revive the disco spirit born in the 70's and spread the teachings of Otafuku-san.
