About Me

.. ..
Faith in You is Jami's 13th cd. It reveals Jami’s lyrical and musical tribute to God’s faithfulness for those who follow Him, even in their most challenging times of life.
Borne out of the tragic loss of a friend to breast cancer, Jami Smith has produced a collection of music and lyrics which reflects her sustaining faith and confidence in a mighty and loving God – one who meets our needs and stands by our side even in our darkest hours.
“I believe in a God who has not forgotten us,” said Smith. “Even when all our circumstances are seemingly saying otherwise, for that very moment of desperation these songs exist, in hope that they will help us choose faith in an intangible sovereign God who we know by faith, is as close as our breathing.”
“I hope and believe the music on Faith in You will present that message of hope in every season of our lives,” she concluded.
Faith in You concerts will include video vignettes of personal stories of tragedy and triumph amidst God’s faithfulness will be shared by a variety of people including Steve Saint, son of martyred missionary Nate Saint, Donna Weaver, wife of OKC Bombing victim Mike Weaver and the family of Sonya Payne.
This is a week of faith and remembrance in the Oklahoma City area, as the 13th anniversary of the Murrah Federal Building bombing will be commemorated the day following the concert. Jami will also participate in the 13th Anniversary events with Bob Woodruff. “The memory of this tragedy is still raw in many ways for those of us who lived it personally,” said Smith. “I hope our concert and release can help continue the healing and recovery that those families who lost loved ones and others who survived the bombing are still experiencing, and that God’s love will continue to heal those wounds.”

In other news…
Jami’s voice and the Faith in You song can be heard on Oklahoma City’s St. Anthony Hospital “Faith” television advertising campaign. Jami recently won an Addy Award from the Oklahoma City Ad Club for her original composition. The Addy is the highest honor in Oklahoma City advertising, voted on by a committee of peers. An initial flight of advertising with the Faith theme was run in late 2007, and a new, revised schedule will run in the spring of 2008.

Influences: In college, I started listening to secular music – people like Shawn Colvin, Patty Griffin and then later on, Sheryl Crow and Alanis Morrissette. I loved the authenticity of their lyrics. It was good to branch out and listen to other writers, other singers …I listen to everything. I love Sting. I love Coldplay. I like the Beatles and I listen to a lot of the old jazz vocalists. I’m just fascinated by music. In Christian music, there were several women who really paved the way. Amy Grant. Margaret Becker. Susan Ashton. People who were really successful, really strong and influential in the contemporary Christian world
