About Me

I really suck at writing about myself, so I'll just do this:
The 2006 Year End Quiz
1. What did you do in 2006 that you'd never done before?
Willingly jumped off a moving boat in the middle of the frickin’ ocean filled with jellyfish and giant sharks.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don’t make them but the things I planned to do in 2006 mostly worked out such as new job, car, travel.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
A few people that I know did, but no one I am really close to.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
Yes, my grandma and my good friend Ken Parker. Gram had heart problems and Ken drowned because he went fishing without a lifejacket and had an epileptic seizure and fell in the water. I’m still pissed at him for that.
5. What countries did you visit? Meh-hee-ko
6. What would you like to have in 2007 that you lacked in 2006?
I’m going to stick with the free time, clean house thing.
7. What date from 2006 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
August 26th. It was Gregors 40th birthday and we swam with whale sharks. Quite possibly one of the coolest things I have ever done. Or the most stupid, you be the judge.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Not killing anyone will always be my biggest achievement. Unless it happens of course.
9. What was your biggest failure?
Not working on the house like I had planned.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Not really. I haven’t even had a cold in years. Of course now I’ll get something because I just said that.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
A new roof because it keeps my head dry :)
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
The voters in the November elections.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
I keep thinking the Bush administration couldn’t do any worse. Then they do.
14. Where did most of your money go?
The house, the car, vacation.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Laying on a beach. And to be a dork, my job is pretty exciting. To me at least.
16. What song will always remind you of 2006?
Ooh that’s a tough one. I’ll just put the playlist on shuffle and see what hits…..Tom Waits – The Piano Has Been Drinking. Hmm, I hope that’s not a prophesy.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Happier
ii. thinner or fatter? Slightly thinner but not nearly enough.
iii. richer or poorer? Richer but I have more bills
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Visiting friends.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Worrying.
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
Spent it at the in-laws house.
21. How will you be spending New Years Eve?
I stayed home with the hubby and watched a Richard Dawkins lecture on the C-Span book channel. Yes, from 11pm to 1am. I am sooo hard-core :P But it was storming out and I really didn't feel like playing drunkin' bumper cars that night.
23. How many one-night stands?
um, zero. I'm happily married thank-you very much.
24. What was your favorite TV program?
Real Time with Bill Maher, The Daily Show, Project Runway, BattleStar Galactica, Dr. Who, The Office and My Name is Earl.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
I am still only hating people in general. Mostly government types.
26. What was the best book you read?
Oh gosh, I haven’t kept track and my memory fails me. I work in a library so I’m always reading something. Some good some bad. Nothing really stands out at the moment but I read Will Storr verses the Supernatural, between Christmas and New Years. That was pretty good so I’ll just say that.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
I don’t really think I’m listening to anybody that I haven’t known about for a while. I’m sure I’ve heard something new that I liked but I can’t think of what. Can you tell that I am not good at these types of questions?
28. What did you want and get?
A real vacation, a new car, a new job, a new roof.
29. What did you want and not get?
I wanted New Orleans to be on track for a major rebuild and to be on a solid path to getting back to what it was. I’m afraid I may never get that.
30. What was your favorite film of this year?
I liked V for Vendetta a whole bunch but I saw lots of really good little films. Short Bus was also excellent (Go Morgan!)
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
My bday is in a couple of weeks. I think I will be in Columbia at a conference for work. I’ll celebrate my 35th (ouch) later. There is a chance that Lee and Clint might be around KC at that time so that would be a fantastic birthday present if they come (hint hint)
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Bush. Impeachment. That hasn’t changed for a few years.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2006?
I’ve been attempting to look more…uh…professional. Quit laughing.
34. What kept you sane?
This question implies that I am sane. That is not the case.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
I’ll always have a crush on Johnny Depp. And Depp as pirate makes me very very happy.
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Keeping religion out of government. I have the feeling I will be fighting this until I die.
37. Who did you miss?
Most of my good friends are scattered around the planet. I miss them all. I finally got to see Jen, Christian, and Mark this year and that was great but made me miss not being able to see them more often.
38. Who was the best new person you met?
My coworker Joey is cool and Mark’s girlfriend rocks.
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2006:
Always wear a life jacket.
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
I don't think so, but nice try. I haven’t done that since I was 18 and thought I was being ‘deep’.
