Storia:
Born in California (Monterey), but lived in the Bay (El Cerrito - now San Francisco) for 17 years. I started DJing back in 97', when a couple of high school friends (Big Ups to Patrick and Adam!) told me to check out Beatsauce (a 15 year and running commercial free Hip-Hop mix show). I tuned in one night, and that was all it took. For a year, I listened every sunday - taped every show, and, as soon as I figured out what they were doing, and could afford it - got some (faulty) used Gemini PT-2000's and a (faulty) Gemini Scratch Master. Ha. About 6 years ago under the guidance of DJ J-Boogie ( Om Records ) I got into production and making beats. From 01' - 02', I had a radio show called Fonetic Fusion with my man Jon Doujah (out of Oakland on 89.3 KOOX). In June 06' I graduated from The Evergreen State College with a B.A. While there my concentration was music production/engineering, art, and education.
Oggi:
+ Every sunday (6-8 pm) I get down with Bay Area heavyweights DJ Raw B , DJ J-Boogie , and DJ Wisdom on Beatsauce (90.3 KUSF / online at kusf.org ).
+ In Feb 07' I joined the Ray's Vast Basement "Beat Sweatshop" posse. (check us out sometime - we even put in work on holidays).
+ When I'm not making music and what not, I mentor youth, and teach them how to DJ (mix and scratch), at the Sunset Neighborhood Beacon Center's (snbc.org) Urban Music Program . I love it.
