Dennis Sekretarev

Hi! My name is Dennis Sekretarev and I am a trumpetplayer and composer born in Moscow (Russia) and raised In Frankfurt/Main (Germany). I began to learn to play music, first classical violin, at the age of seven and could not stop since then. When i was 14 my parents gave me as a birthday gift my first Miles Davis record (Birth Of The Cool) and the same year i switched to trumpet and began to learn everything i could about Jazz. Besides that i love all kinds of different music that there is. With 18 i started to study Jazz and Classical trumpet as a young student at the Higher School for Music and Performing Arts Frankfurt. About that time i started to compose my own music and play it with my first Jazz Group the "Isle Of Orange". Since the same time I am member of the Hessen Youth Jazz Orchestra (LJJO) and went on tour with this Band to Russia, Japan, Romania, France and Lithuania. With the LJJO i had the opportunity to record, perform and learn from such great musicians as Jan Oosthof, Jan Wessels, Claudio Roditi, Herb Geller, Bob Mintzer, Eric van Lier, Jiggs Wigham, Ack van Rooyen, Madeline Bell and many more. In 2006 i accomplished as Co-organizer and Co-Leader of the Contrast Quartet the 1 price in the state Jazzcompetition of Hessen. The same year I took part in a workshop with Alex Sipiagin who is a great musical influence for me. In fall 2006 i moved to Amsterdam (The Netherlands) and enrolled as a fulltime student with major in Jazz Trumpet at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. For my piece "For The Real Traveler" I recieved the 1 price at the recent Hessen Compositions Contest.
