About Me

The world breaks us all. Afterward, many are stronger at the broken places. -Hemingway

There is not alot to tell. I live a blissfully quiet, uneventful life. And I am discovering more and more that I like it that way. I guess that is what happens when you turn 40. I live in the same area that I grew up in. Small town girl at heart. I married a wonderful man 5 years ago and everyday he makes me feel like I am the luckiest woman in the world. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia/CFS just over 10 years ago. If you want to know about me, you need to understand how profoundly living with chronic pain and fatigue can alter your life (or any chronic illness for that matter). When your body slams on the brakes and brings you to a screeching halt, it changes how you do everything in your life. It changes how you see everything in your life. (I see most of my life from the couch, hugging a heating pad.) But that aside, I have a good life and being forced to stop and slow things down has given me a gift. Time...to appreciate, to love, to listen, to just be.

My Interests

Seeing this movie trailer brought me to tears of pure joy. Did I mention that I am an X-Files junkie? I WANT TO BELIEVE. I have been waiting 10 years since the last movie to know the truth. And the absolute beauty of all of this....They didn't pull in some lousy actor/actress to play Mulder and Scully. Gillian and David are back!!! I can't wait for July. I have been a Red Sox fan since I was a little girl. It was a love, a passion and sometimes a heartbreak that I shared with my Dad. My Dad passed away in 2000 and probobly never imagined that I would get to see history being made not only once but TWICE in my lifetime. And I am still a bit sad that we couldn't have seen it together. But if I know my Dad he was watching the curse come to its end from the best view in the park.

I'd like to meet:

~There are so many people I would love to meet but the top 2 would be...Dr. Maya Angelou (I did get to hear her speak once at a college commencement and it was one of the most moving experiences I have ever had.)and Dr. Wayne Dyer.

Music:

I've been on a bit of a 70's bender lately but I love all kinds of music. I can't say that I have favorite genre. My mood often dictates what is in the CD player at any given moment. But have a fondness for music from the 80's especially if it involves BIG HAIR. I miss the days when MTV aired videos 24/7 and I you didn't need to have a special channel just to watch Headbangers Ball. I really like classic R&B, Soul, Motown. I even like country in small doses.

If you love Motown, you need to see this video. Man...would I love to have seen this LIVE!!!!..
Temptations Vs. Four Tops (motown) - The top video clips of the week are here

Movies:

Far too many to list. But love anything that has my on the edge of my seat or cowering under the couch. (Saw, Seven, Silence of the Lambs) Some of the old standbys: ALL of the Lethal Weapon movies,The Breakfast Club, Dirty Dancing, The Blues Brothers, The Lost Boys, any of the Nightmare on Elm Street movies, Interview with a Vampire, Mad Max, Road Warrior and Beyond Thunderdome. I am not real big into romantic comedies but I do love a good tearjerker.

Television:

CSI, House, Survivor, Ghost Whisperer, Ghost Hunters, Intervention and Dancing with the Stars are the main shows of the week but my guilty pleasure is totally mindless Celeb reality shows like Rock of Love. I am sorry I just can't stop myself. And then there was this show. Perhaps one of my all time favorites (and I am still sulking over the fact that they yanked it without a proper ending)

Books:

I LOVE to read. I will read almost anything but I tend to lean toward horror/suspense/mystery. I love Stephen King (The Stand is one of my all time favorites) Any of Anne Rice's vampire books. And on the girly side-anything by Nicholas Sparks. Reading right now...Change Your Thoughts-Change Your Life. Living the Wisdom of the Tao by Wayne Dyer

Heroes:

God Bless our soldiers in their fight to keep us free.

Hitting the wall

I wish that words could adequately express how tired I am right now.  I am feeling discouraged, depressed and weary to the bone. This was a tough winter on me and usually spring brings ...
