VANITY Designer & Vintage Collector Alicia B is inspired by different historical eras as well as her many journeys in life. From age 8 to 15, she took summer theatre classes with tokay players, This is where her love of fashion and costumes began. Alicia attended Delta college after high school where she began taking the sewing courses that advanced her love for costume design and taught her to create everything from bikinis to couture gowns! Alicia received her Fashion Design Degree in 1999 and her Associates of Arts (AA) in Fashion is near completion. Alicia is currently attending Sacramento City College, where she just completed a French draping class to further her design skills.Vanity is the name of Alicia's design line, while Vanity Vintage is all authentic vintage clothing. She gets alot of her insiration from her vintage collection. "The quality and effort put into each piece of clothing is impeccable," says Alicia. She likes to create unique and one-of-a-kind pieces and does custom work, which she prefers, opposing to mass production because that’s what she believes provides her with a unique edge. Her first fashion shows were back in high school, but persistence and inspiration have allowed them to progress, carrying over into her college years. Alicia had a Vanity Vintage trunk show in San Francisco and also worked with Furry Rabbit in another vintage fashion show. She recently had the opportunity, since moving out to Sacramento, to make a dress for a contest sponsored by Sacramento’s local baseball team, the Rivercats, who hosted a fashion show to promote their newest logo. Her Pomeranian dog Suggie was also in the show to promote a new extension of the line, POOCHIe, a doggie design line for dog owners who love to keep there pups as stylish as they are.The inspiration for the Spring 2008 designs started out with a Greek Mediterranean feel to mimic the way the materials were draped on the body during ancient times, while adding a modern flare to the flowing, old-world style. Alicia imagines a very sexy and chic woman on vacation, in paradise, wherever that may be. She uses flowing, bright, delectable, and colorful silk materials. Tropical isles and exotic animals were some of the inspirations for her latest and greatest designs. Alicia Just had her first show was very creative and tropical. The clothing designs were her new designs and pieces from her vintage collection.
