About Me

'Surrender' is available now for free download! 'Bury The Mainstream II: There Will Be No Revolution' is being written as we speak and nearly completed to be ready for recording soon.
The name Xcess would trace its origins to the scrolling through of a dictionary and phonetic distortion around the years of 2001-2002. The years to follow however would be spend pursuing frontman endeavors in metal and hardcore bands. During these years the first Xcess performance was at my high school talent show in 2002 with a short acapella 16 bar performance a few acts after my first live performance in the metal band Kold Spiral. In 2005 around the time of fronting the shortlived metalcore group In Loving Memory, I would join Darkside Records working behind the scenes for their flagship artists The Hectic Cillaz. Graphic design, booking and street team guerilla promotion would be the starting point for my involvement in underground rap. During this time In Loving Memory would disband and the core members would regroup later that year with a few new additions to form a new metalcore dual vocalist outfit called Abandon The Lost which really gave me my first real live performance experiences.
During the years of 2005 up til 2007 I recorded various songs as Xcess with the demise of Abandon The Lost in 2006. Most of this material would finally wind up being used in a compilation record released in 2008 but we'll get to that later. March of 2007 would see my first true Xcess show at a coffee shop. From there I did a dizzying spell of shows in Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee however after being disgruntled with my material and desiring to pursue other musical ventures I put Xcess on hold to start the Rat Gibson project. Rat Gibson has been described as the Weird Al Yankovich of hip hop. Parody jams like "Party Like A Scene Kid" and "Meth Grillz" were instant cult classics. As Rat Gibson I released an EP entitled "Music Isnt Always Pretty" and performed only 3 shows; my first two were back to back in Georgia and the last was in Kentucky.
Also during 2007 thru to 2008 I joined forces behind the scenes with budding horrorcore label Serial Killin Records as their graphics artist. Myspace layouts, full album layouts and merch designs for all their artists including Sicktanick, Razakel, Komatose and more were the course of the day. Hype man duties for their artist Stitch Mouth for a few shows in Tennessee, Michigan and Dallas TX were some additional work I put in for the label. I formed SKR Designz as a commission based graphics art company which did art for artists such as F2H, Slo Pain Records and so on. As freelance work I also did graphics for Project Born and G-Child of the White Rapper Show.
2008 would also see the rise again of Xcess. During this time I would release a previous material online download compilation called "Musical Abortions: The Unwanted Collection" and a DIY press version with additional tracks called "Musical Abortions: The Stillborn Deluxe Edition". The record would include songs such as "Sweet Dreams", "Take A Journey", "Natural Born Killer" and "For Myself". Shortly thereafter the long awaited "Bury The Mainstream" was recorded and released soon followed by a companion of unused tracks that didnt really fit "Bury The Mainstream" which was a short EP called "As The World Burns". I was also chosen to appear on the tribute record "Placenta: The Afterbirth of KGP" which was a record full of tributes that featured artists such as Scum, Insane Poetry, Mental Ward, SickTanick and more which were a tribute to the legendary horrorcore artist KGP and the website Killmusick.com.
Then life changed forever. After driving to Albuquerque New Mexico to work with Serial Killin Records for 3 weeks, on the 3rd day there I found a strange voice that said "Go Home" at 4:30 in the morning. On October 1st 2008 trying to find my way out of Albuquerque I gave my life to Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. Since then my professional and personal ties have been severed with the majority of Serial Killin Records and many other labels and artists in the horrorcore scene. This act of surrender to Christ has destroyed my noteriety and many opportunities to work in the underground scene. I continue to perform where possible with each show growing more intense and passionate that many have been in awe of including the crowd as I opened for (HED) PE on their tour stop in Louisville in April of 2009.
A few tracks from "Bury The Mainstream" were compiled and released in the form of an EP called "All Thats Left" in light of the antichristian message on "Bury The Mainstream". In mid 2009 I left Darkside Records due to conflicts of interest. This year as I write this my record "Surrender" is being mastered and ready to be released and the sequel to "Bury The Mainstream" which is entitled "Bury The Mainstream 2: There Will Be No Revolution" is being written to be recorded and released soon after the release of "Surrender". I dont know what the Lord has planned for me in the coming years but rest assured its all Im really concerned about now...
