John Hickey is an up-and-comer in the funk scene. Having played and recorded with George Clinton, Bernie Worrell, and Bootsy Collins, John has been thoroughly schooled by the masters. In addition to touring with George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic and Bernie Worrell & the WOO Warriors, The John Hickey Band has been gigging throughout the Northeast since the summer of 2004. Members of the John Hickey Band have played with the likes of P-Funk, Bootsy Collins, Cameo,, Sly Stone, Bernie Worrell, Kool & The Gang, The Toys, Funkin, Eddie Hazel and many others...
From the ashes of what was suppossed to be the end of the line, comes Supreem again resurrected in full effect. The former frontman of one of the funkiest bands from Philadelphia, Simple & Supreem, has recruited the best players for his new project. THE SUPREEM REZARRECTION will be a band that takes Funk, Rock, and Hip Hop to the next level. Following the blue print of Simple & Supreem and other funky, successful and legendary artst, Supreem will unleash the raw energy and Funk on the Planet.
Not to be missed.
Club 218 is located at 218 South Street, above Malokais, between 2nd and 3rd on South Street, Philadelphia. We book all original rock music. We rock. We will rock hard together.
Some basics:
250 person capacity. After the TLA, we are the next largest live music venue on South Street.
We are an independently run venue and have no finanical ties to Clear Channel/Electric Factory Concerts/Hey Day Entertainment.
We have a full sound system including two monitor mixes and a stereo front of house mix.
We provide a well-maintained backline of drums (no breakables) and bass cabinet (no head unit).
Our sound engineers are professional and good.
Our shows make sense. New-age folkies need not worry that they will be sandwiched between some Thrashers and Screamos. And certainly, vice-verse. Emphasis on the vice.
Maybe you have heard about our weekend soundman extraordinaire, Kenny G ? He, who at last check, was known to provide all performing artists with stellar recordings of their performances for next to nothing (do I recall $10 as the actual price?). The recordings were a well-mixed blend of board and "air" recordings. Numerous versions of these mixes have ended up as bands official demos and myspace selections.
Oh, and we care about our shows.
These artists are donating 100% of all of their CD BABY websales to the RED CROSS!
