Welcome to the County of Dukes County. Wordy? Perhaps. I am an island, population 15,000 in the winter and 100,000+ in the summer. People have their many reason for loving me. I inspire creativity, unsurpassed relaxation, and falling in love for the summer. Whether their families have homes here and have been coming for generations, or happened upon my marvelousness on the way from Cape Cod to Nantucket, I provide memories to last visitors at least through the off season. Come visit my quaint campgrounds, grand clay cliffs, and fabulous beaches. Come taste my fresh seafood and chowda, ice cream, and back door doughnuts. The Bass and Bluefish Derby, Sailing, The African-American Film Festival, Jawsfest, The Martha's Vineyard Agricultural Fair, The Farmer's Market, Lucy Vincent, Grand Illumination, Oak Bluff's FD Fireworks, shows at the Vineyard Playhouse, Lambert's Cove, The Portuguese Festival, music at the Old Whaling Church, beach bonfires, live bands at at Offshore Ale, the Community Sing in the campground, road races, flea markets and art festivals, and long winters full of finding someone to snuggle up to and sipping on something to keep the blood warm.
