In my mind I'm goin' to Carolina...

About Me

I LOVE POST-ITS!!!
..

Hmmm...let's see...I'm known for having a new hobby about every year. Yeah, I know...if I could just stick to one thing I'd probably be pretty darn good at it, but I just don't work that way : )

The current interest (for the past two years) has been scuba diving. I love it! What I don't love about it is gearing up before the dive. Once we hit the water it's all good, but before that the extra 80 lbs. of gear that I'm hoofing down to the beach on my back is lame. And Howard has no problem suiting up...which makes it even lamer for me. hee hee. Yup, we're in cold water diving up here in the Northwest so we're covered from head to toe. Diving is awesome...especially in the tropics!

Another current attempt is running. Ever since I can remember, I've always said that I would rather crawl on my hands and knees than run anywhere. So, here I am, working on a running program called "Couch to 5k" and so far I've been doing well...I'm still alive.

Two years ago it was randonee skiing...that was fun until I spiral fractured my ankle and had to have two pins put in. I insisted that it was only a sprain and walked down the mountain on my own. Tard. There's good snow right now so I'm going back this year, damnit! Right after I take some skiing lessons : )

The year before that I lived by the Burke Gilman trail, so naturally I bought a road bike and rode about 40 miles a day. That was awesome because I could ride down to the Bikram Yoga studio (hot box yoga) that was also on the trail. That was the year that I did the Seattle to Portland bike ride (206 miles). I cheated a little and jumped into Kristin's truck for about 35 miles -- peddling for that long can get boring -- I just wanted a little company. It was a beautiful ride! (except all the hills were in the last 5 miles of the ride...was that some sick joke?)

Before that it was kiteboarding. I got to practice the kite part, but I never made it on the water. For about a year I would schedule lessons -- down at Hood River in Oregon and twice in the Outer Banks, NC. Every time my lessons came up there was no wind...so I took the hint from the great wind gods and figured I would probably just hurt myself anyway.
