anyone who is mature enough to hold an intelligent conversation about something more than sex and tv (whatever happened to books people?!?) and as long as they have a fantastic sense of humor. Oh, and no carb diets. Carbs are in EVERYTHING people. Including tomatos and carrots! Being healthy is awesome, but come on, we all know these carb-erasing people are just dying for a sandwich.

Let's Find Out!
Lately I've been into chick rock, which is Sarah Mclauglin, Alanis Morisette, Tori Amos, Rachel Yamagata, Fiona Apple, Aimee Man. I've always loved bands like System of a Down, Journey, Pearl Jam, and the Who. I like a lot of classic rock with lyrics of a political edge, like System of a Down, R.E.M, etc. Staind, Janis Joplin, Elton John, James Taylor, Carly Simon, Sixpence none the richer, and Stevie Wonder are some of my all time favorite orginial muscians. I can't really get into rap or country (unless its classic country like Pasty Cline, Johnny Cash or Hem) and I used to like Notoriou B.I.G and Grandmaster Flash. It honestly just depends on my mood. With the summer I enjoy R&B hits of mariah carey and new edition, I hunger for sixpence during the winter, and I dream of classic Jewel in the spring (not her recent slutty commercialized music.) Love Love LOVE Tenacious D (with Jack Black and Kyle Gass!) The Garden State soundtrack is the best soundtrack of all time. It's introduced me to a whole new genre of music. I also like Zero 7, Cold Play, Leah Andreone, The Craniberries, Prince, Iron and Wine. and I'm a huge dork about musicals.
gawd....so many. Let's just see what I can come up with for today, and we'll leave it at that: Animal house, Little Shop of Horrors, Angus, Better Luck Tommorrow, Napolean Dynomite, Amelie, But I'm a cheerleader, Victor/Victoria, The Who's Tommy, Billy Madison, Tommy Boy, Hook, all three Back to the future movies, Sixteen Candles, Young Frankestein, Robin Hood:men in tights, Kill Bill volume 1 & 2, Rocky Horror Picture show, carrie, Life of David Gale, An American tale, Pulp Fiction, The mirror has two faces, What's up Doc? white oleander, saved, Suicide club, American Splendor, American Pie, American Beauty, The Women, Beaches, and umm...let's throw out one last one.....any movie with Faruza Balk (worst witch, return to oz, waterboy, the craft, Almost Famous) and ..shit what's his face...John C. Reily! (Chicago, The Anniversary party, Gangs in New York, Boogie nights, The hours The good girl, Days of thunder ). You know...that man does not get enough credit. He is one of the most amazing actors of our time. And he's been in every frickin' film that did well in the box office. I applaud him. and faruza balk! she's been acting since she was like 6. clap, clap for her too. let's not forget Paul Giamatti from Sideways, who should have been nominated for an Oscar but instead they picked Thomas Hayden Church ONLY because he cried and got naked. I love movies with christina Ricci (Prozac nation, Monster, Now and Then, Mermaids, Pumpkin, Opposite of Sex), Michelle Williams(United states of Leland, Prozac Nation, this british pal-sy movie) Ben Kingsly (Gandhi, House of sand And Fog, Tuck everlasting), Jennifer Connelly (labyrinth, Pollack, beautiful mind, House of sand and fog, don't see Dark water, it sucked ass) ....yeah, I need to stop, i just love movies in gerenal. Recently I saw Across the Universe, which was absolutely breathtaking. Little Children, 40 year old virgin, and Dreamgirls, though an eclectic group are some of my recent dvd favorites.
Openly admitted love:Heroes(who doesn't like comic book tv noir?), Project Runway, The Office (I officially like both the british AND the American version), Grey's Anatomy, and Ugly Betty. Classic Favorites: SNL (though often television's red-headed step-child, its still my favorite), Monty Python, Family Guy, Absolutely Fabulous, Friends, Sex and the City, 20/20, Hardball, some CSI. Guilty Pleasures: Dawson's Creek, America's Next Top Model, Real World, and (egads), Gossip Girl.
Anything by Albert Camus, Alice Walker, Toni Morrison, and post-modern/dystopic novels are the stuff literary dreams are made of. Speaking of which, they made a movie about the Handmaiden's tale.
I love John Steinbeck's East of Eden and Grapes of Wrath. (I'm aiming to read Cannery Row next), White Oleander,
Candy, Wicked, stories by Kate chopin, Circle of Friends. I like reading plays like "No exit", which thrives on the idea of existentialism. other stuff..hmm Who's afraid of Virginia Woolf? Plautus' The Menachmi, Marlowe's Dr. Faustaus, Shakespeare's A Midsummer night's dream, Richard III, Macbeth, Josephina Lopez's Real Women have Curves. What else....
Catch 22 was hilarious and briliant. Brave New World is a provocative commentary on our culture. Some of my fun favorites are: Still Woodpecker, A hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy, Rush Limbaugh is a big fat idiot, The bell jar, Nine stories, Franny and zooey, Catcher in the Rye, pretty much anything else J.D Sallinger, Pablo Neruda and Yeats poetry.as a kid, i like reading Judy Blume books because she was notorious for writing about girls looking for their sexual identies during the sexual revolution. Mountains beyond Mountains is a great non-fiction book about a doctor who is committed to saving poverty-stricken countries that lack education, support, and funds for health benefits by caring for more than a million patients for free. I don't think I've read a non-fiction book that was more compelling, more honest, and inspiring than this book. I think we all seriously need to get back into reading before books they become obsolete.

i know this sounds cliche', but honestly, my mother is my hero. I owe a lot of who I am today to her. She may not be the most brilliant or the least neaurotic person I know, but she's the most caring and very devoted to family, even when they make her feel like crap. I strive to be the same kind of mother she is. another hero of mine, is thie 90 year old asian woman at my work who is tough for her age and doesn't take crap from no one. i want to be her when I'm 90.
