About Me

i'm an artist, a musician, and a friendly person... i play piano and sing, spend time with my sweet dog, and i love to listen to music. i want to be a rock star when i grow up. i'm a little girl, wise beyond my years.
oh yeah... contrary to what this site says, i am NOT a virgo, i am a libra... like a baseball player safely sliding into third, i made it into libra by about 15 minutes. i am zero degrees libra... i checked an ephemeris. =0) that said, i also possess and display virgo qualities at times, so i'm kinda like two clashing flavors of ice cream in the same dish. i'm like a party in your mouth! =0)
i have a super sweet and snuggly dog, her pretty little face is to your left. her name is baby, and she's my grrrrrrl. she's my love. also, there are several pictures of a kitten named blue, but he's no longer part of the family. mommy couldn't handle his antics which included daily bloodletting of his owner. he was incredibly adorable when he was being nice, and he was absolutely from hell when he wasn't being nice. he's happier now with his new family. baby is happy she has me all to herself again.
i recently quit smoking (egads, it's about time!!) and am truly amazed it wasn't nearly as difficult as i thought it'd be... makes me wonder why the hell i hadn't woken up sooner! like, say... twenty years ago?? think of all the money i'd have right now. umm... on second thought, i'm erasing that thought from my mind, i don't want a severe depression setting in! think of all the money i WILL have from now on! thaaaaat's better.
if you have nothing better to do, please check out my silly (and ultra amateur!) home page at http://home.cfl.rr.com/methywoz - there's a surprise at the end!

My Interests

my wonderful dog baby, playing piano, singing, writing songs, acting, illustrating, animating

I'd like to meet:

•ozzy osbourne (again) - i met him when i was 13... he held my hand, told me he loved me too, and kissed me on the lips. introduced to his work with black sabbath when i was about 10 years old, i have been loyal since. would LOVE to sing with him!

•tori amos (again) - i met her at a meet and greet before her show at mizner park... she autographed my "a sorta fairytale" cd single... it says "to methy and your piano, *heart* tori amos. i've loved her music since 1992 and my love for her has only grown since. she's incredible.

•daniel lanois - he's a phenomenal musician and producer, and i would love to pick his brain over a cup of coffee. i'd really love to jam with him, he is one of my most influential artists.

•imogen heap - she's new in my world, and welcome at that! she's a talented and gifted songwriter, and full of edgy fashion ideas, and i find her quite interesting. i'd like to jam with her, she'd be loads of fun, i have no doubt.

•joe henry (again) - i met him at a performance he did at a starbucks in chicago... i told him that i had been playing his songs in coffee shops in chicago for years, even before i'd heard his albums. he's another phenomenal musician and producer, and even though his sister-in-law is madonna, he has never asked her to promote his craft. i respect him greatly.

•sarah mclachlan - i love the way our voices blend, though i have only sung duets with her recordings. but given the chance to sing together live, we would make the armhairs of the world stand on end. i love her innovation, and her talent is incredible. and i respect a woman who belches loudly. =0)

•jeff buckley - but i am too late, he passed on before i fell in love with his music. =0( may his music live on forever, and may he rest in peace.

•fiona apple - she's one of my favorite songwriters, and she's got a few loose screws, so she's damn cool in my book. her crazy is genius. *LOVE* the new tunes! she's one of the most talented musicians i have ever heard. amazing.

•maynard james keenan - he's a phenomenal vocalist and songwriter, and he's got quite a few loose screws, so yes, he's a genius. i'd like to give him a hug. =0) i'd also like to sing violently with him. i would guess he'd probably dig it.

•twinemen - saw 'em live with concrete blonde a few years ago and LOVED them instantly - wish i could jam with these guys one day! ronnie johnson crawled beneath my skin!

•leonard cohen - the man who harbors all the loose screws. he's a poetic genius, bringing light to the darkness, and darkness to the light. i'd love to share a cocktail with him, even though i generally do not drink, and i'd be sure to bring my pencil! and i know that i can trust him, for he's touched my perfect body with his mind. -- i'd love to have put that in quotes, but i changed it a little - i sure hope he doesn't mind.

•rachael yamagata - not even sure how i stumbled across her website initially, but i listened to her streamed music for weeks, intrigued from the first listen. then my brother in law gave me her album "happenstance" for christmas and i fell immediately back in love with the songs. somehow she knows the heartache i've lived so many times, and has a knack for articulating these experiences in a way that sometimes almost sounds as if i were the storyteller. i love her stuff. would love to hang out with her, she's probably quite cool.

•trent reznor - why the hell wouldn't i want to meet him? i've loved his music since 1991 and saw him live for the first time in october 2005 (sad to say i waited so long!). sometimes he seems to voice the angst and turmoil in my head, smush it up with dark sounds, and add a fist pounding beat to it. music to my ears.

•jeordie white (again) - i knew jeordie in highschool, he was in a band called "the ethiopians" and i was in absolute lust with the drummer of that band. in fact, i lost my virginity in jeordie's bed, with that very drummer. jeordie was always a sweet guy, kinda quiet at times, and really silly and fun at others. i'm so proud that he went on to be a rock star, he's living my dream!! =0) and he's played with both maynard and trent... ahhh, if only i could be in his shoes for a month!

•chris cornell - dreamy ice blue eyes, thundering angelic voice, excellent songwriter... i'd love to sing with him. love every band he's been involved in... temple of the dog being my favorite.

•shirley manson - the woman has such fashion sense, and i so have none... i'd like her to play dress up with me. plus i love her voice. i'd also like lipstick advice from her. =0)

•johnette napolitano - because i have loved concrete blonde since 1991 and i absolutely love her lyrics and vocals. i'd like to march up the white house steps with her so we could rip "dubya" a new orifice. such a powerful woman, i would love to sing with her.

•peter gabriel - ever since he was in genesis, i have been drawn to his voice, so distinct, so roughly polished. i absolutely love his voice, i love his songwriting, and he loves to be loved. so do i, peter, so do i.

•sia furler - new to my world, the young australian singer/songwriter has won me over with her solo work as well as the work she's done with zero 7. can't wait to see her live, and looking forward to all her new music to come. i'm so sure she's be such fun to hang out with. she's got spunk, she's got soul, and she's "the ivory to my ebony key!"

•jim morrison - yeah, a little late, but i'd love to know if it was truly his soul that i was channelling that night i'd consumed too much captain morgan's riced spum at a college party. i am jiz momo!

•sinead o'connor - i adore her voice, i love her strength, and her ballsy attitude. i wish she would step back up to the plate with said attitude. "...sailed the seas for a hundred years leaving me all alone..."

•aimee mann - the woman who epitomizes laid-back strength, love her voice. and i'd love to sit at a piano with her for 3 hours... i would love to learn from her, the subtle punches, the reserved lamenting... and then maybe i could write an album that joe henry could produce. it's great to dream. i am thankful "he" didn't let her talk, else she (and i) may never have realized "sometimes it takes a lifetime to get what you need."

Music:

sooo many... see "who i'd like to meet" for a sampling. will update this later with any i may have overlooked. music is one of the most important things in my life, and has been since i was just a wee child.

meanwhile check out this awesome performance:

.. width="425" height="350" ..

Movies:

hair is my all time favorite movie.

i love many animated films, as well as anything i deem totally intense. a few are:

silence of the lambs, hannibal, the exorcist, in the name of the father, the unbearable lightness of being, jesus' son, the virgin suicides, natural born killers, trainspotting, the godfather trilogy, west side story, the lord of the rings trilogy, pulp fiction, crash, magnoliaalso, one movie i think more people need to see: what the bleep do we know?

Television:

alias - (i'm totally addicted, though i am a cheater because i watch the episodes on the DVD collections), lost - i'll be looking forward to getting that on DVD as well... i'm not a fan of commercials or having to wait a week to see what happens next, looney toons

i generally think television is a waste of time, it's mindless, full of negativity and suggestions of how i ought to be living my life. i get sucked in too easily. i find that disconcerting, so i avoid it as much as possible. i've got better things to do with my time.

Books:

hehhh? what are those?? =0) yeah, i may have gotten through school without ever reading one, but now i'm cursed with CREATING textbooks!! ahhh, life... so cruel, so ironic.

Heroes:

"...i don't need a hero. i don't need a soldier. i did when i was younger, but now that i am older. i don't need a father. i don't wanna be your mother. it's just that any one of us is half without another one is you..."

thank you for that, johnette. xx
