About Me

Guess what? I'm starting all over on my profile. Guess what else? I don't know what to say about myself. (You'd think if anyone would know what to write...)
Okay, here goes: My everyday life includes, likely:

Being in Quigley Hall (The Art and Music building at Western State College of Colorado)Why am I in Quigley? Because I'm trying (really, really hard) to get a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Sculpture. I work in everything, as it were. Clay, metals, wood, Styrofoam (from time to time), cement, plaster, you name it. My Senior Exhibition is called "Discovering the Tuyo" and is themed around a fictional civilization, for which I'm creating artifacts and incorporating a fusion of Greek and Mayan iconography. It is showing March 8th-22nd in the Quigley lower gallery, and the opening and convocation is March 8th at 12:30 PM. You know, just in case you're going to be in Gunnison; it'll be the cultural event of the season. To see more of my art (mostly older and not-at-all-updated) check out my gallery on deviantArt.
Why am I at Western? Three major reasons: First, I love the area. It's gorgeous and extreme year round. Well, mostly extreme in the winters. It's rather chilly around here. An average low is 20 below. Second, I love the people. It made me a bit uncomfortable at first, but almost everyone here is really, really friendly. Almost creepy friendly. Except Charlie, our landlord. The previous tenants warned us, “He’s a fuckmook, I wouldn’t trust him as far as I could kick a house.”Being at work, at the Best Western Tomichi Village Inn.
What’s that like? It’s okay. Right now its pretty slow, which is okay, because I get to do stupid things like update my online profiles. I like the place (it’s really pretty classy, about the classiest in town) and I like the people I work with.

My Interests

Music:

Music is fantastic! I love all of it.Except Rap. And Hip Hop. And Country.

My absolute favourite bands:

My first love is the Beatles . I still carry a super big flame.
In order of importance, they are:
George : George is a frood. His songs are consistently awesome, even if many of them have an overabundance of Krishnakrishna. Also, his solo work is the best by far.
John : John is of course, a genius musically. He’s really angsty, though, and kind seems like a self centered prick. The upswing of which is: I shall listen to and very much enjoy your music, but I don’t think we can hang out.
Ringo : Ringo is a slacker genius. He is super chill and has a fantastic attitude towards life. Also, he plays the drums, which gives him points in my book. If he weren’t so languid he could take over the world.
Paul : Silly, sappy, insipidly sweet, Paul was essential to John’s genius, as John was essential for keeping his sickly sweet sappiness in check. Without John, Paul started a slow but steady decline into a hearts-and-rainbows-oblivion. His solo work is probably the worst of the four, and includes such gems as Silly Love Songs, Bluebirds, and Sentimental Junk. Need I say more?

The White Stripes : Yes, I love ‘em. If you can find it, listen to their cover of “Black Jack Davy.” Tre Magnifique!

The Aquabats : Seriously the best band in the world. Well, maybe not the world, but they are among the most fun. The music is peppy and fun, and their live shows are awesome. According to MC Bat Commander, they are really super models, and he just wears a pudgy suit. (Check out their super rad back story.)

The Presidents of the United States of America : For a while I thought they were fun and had subtle implications of naughtiness. After hearing “Carolyn’s Booty,” “Fuck California,” and “Candy Cigarette” I have seen the light. There’s no subtle about it. Oh yeah, pretty dirty.

The Who : Fantastic boys. You seem to me to be the bridge (or at least a bridge) between “oldies” and the punk scene. Also, I love you. Seriously, call me.

Reel Big Fish : Great Ska Batman! I love RBF, their songs range from catchy, to insightful, to funny. And boy, what a brass section.

Streetlight Manifesto : Also awesome Ska. I saw them live (they were right before the Aquabats) and realized I had about 3 songs on a sampler disc. I rectified that.

Gogol Bordello : Ukranian Punk/Gypsy/Cabaret? Hell yes. I fell in love with them after I saw “Everything is Illuminated” (which is an excellent movie, incidentally). “Start Wearing Purple” is fantastic. Check them out.

The Doors : Groundbreaking and fascinating. Remember what I said about John Lennon? Most of it applies to Jim Morrison too. Drug inspired lyrics, for sure, though much of it is poetry. I love the doors. Especially “Peace Frog.”

Flogging Molly : Amazing genre-bending music. I can’t really call it punk, or grunge, or traditional Irish. I can call it good.

The Gorillaz : This is a love hate relationship, many of their tracks are really rappy, which I dislike, as we’ve covered. They’re talented, and I love most of their stuff. “Fire Coming Out of a Monkey’s Head?” Genius.

Green Day : Oh Green Day, you make me smile. Your songs range from just ridiculous thrashes to sensitive ballads... and often you’re pretty funny too. “Dominated Love Slave” for example.

Led Zeppelin : Can’t go wrong with Zeppelin, this stuff rocks. Plus Robert Plant is a huge nerd. Check out his Tolkien Lyrics, yo!

Lemon Demon : Neil Cicierega, a self proclaimed youthful dipwad, is something of an Internet phenomenon. He is responsible for many flash animations, songs and videos on the web. Check out “Potter Puppet Pals”

The New Pornographers : An “Indie Supergroup” from Canada, they are really cool. “Sing Me Spanish Techno,” “All For Swinging You Around,” and “Jackie Dressed in Cobras” are some of my favourites.

The Traveling Wilburys : Speaking of supergroups... this unsung group included Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, George Harrison, and Bob Dylan. Organized by our beloved George, it also included, from time to time, Roy Orbison and Ringo Starr.

Wilco : Good rock. Kind of Indie, a little bit country bluegrass (but I like it anyway). Check out “Heavy Metal Drummer”

Heroes:

I can't think of these until they pop into my head, so this list might grow.

1. George Harrison
2. Douglas Adams
3. Terry Prachett
