Avalon Theatre Company fosters opportunities for the St. Louis professional theatre artist and focuses on socially relevant and timely plays and lesser-produced classics and musicals. Founded in 2005 by Producing Artistic Director, Larry Mabrey, & Managing Artistic Director, Erin Kelley, Avalon's inaugural season was the St. Louis premiere of David Mamet's BOSTON MARRIAGE and A WALK IN THE WOODS by Lee Blessing. Avalon has also produced MOLLY SWEENEY by Brian Friel, CLOSER THAN EVER by Maltby & Shire, BUS STOP by William Inge, and the ground-breaking world premiere, LITTLE BOSNIA, by Cristina Pippa. In 2008, John Contini was named Avalon's Artistic Associate. Our performance space is Union United Methodist Church, 3543 Watson Road (between Oleatha & Pernod) in southwest city. ATC operates under a Small Professional Theatre contract with Actors’ Equity Association, the union of professional actors and stage managers in the United States, and is organized as a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit corporation. Avalon is proud to receive support from Fox Associates Foundation, the Regional Arts Commission, Actors' Equity Foundation, and Anheuser-Busch Companies.
