I am here for Friends

About Me

A frustrated optimist. A play defender.
.. I am: Gregory Benford A master literary stylist who is also a working scientist.

Which science fiction writer are you?

My Interests

Fighting the good fight, day-dreaming, and following strangers.

I'd like to meet:

everyone, at least once.

Music:

I love dramatic vocalists, concise, potent lyrics, and creative arrangements. I like singing along. I like dancing, too.I was in a band a long time ago. Mrs. Remote Control. We were one of the best worst bands ever.

Movies:

One of the best summers of my life was in 1998, when I went to see every single movie released with my dad or sister. No matter the movie, we saw it: The Parent Trap, Dr. Dolittle 2. and Snake Eyes. I saw THEM ALL.

Books:

I love the portable escape of fiction. My reality and fantasty-life has always been muddled. I feel more connected to a well developed character than I do to most people. Novels, more than any other medium, allow me to feel what it would be like to be someone else.I also collect children's books.

Heroes:

Kenzaburo Oe, Leila Berg, Jonothan Kozol, Neil Young, Paolo Friere, Martin Scorcese, Tsai Ming Liang, Zora Neale Hurston, Philip Roth, Jorge Luis Borges, Ingmar Bergman, Nadine Gordimer, Tarkovsky, Wong Kar Wai, V.S. Naipaul, Yasujiro Ozu, Bob Dylan, Haruki Murakami...
