I am here for Friends

About Me

Older than my years, and there's a fair few of them. Originally from Sydney, a Londoner for 15 years and now back in Australia. I feel both nationalities and yet don't sense that I'm fully either one. I love to observe differences in culture and language and strive to see the sublime and ridiculous in them all. Music, film and books form a huge part of this desire for experience and they're all usually as eclectic as the company I like to keep. I suppose that's what I loved best about living in London for as long as I did: like Sydney, it's a mixture of so many people from practically every part of the world. Friends of mine who are purely one thing and of one background could be counted on the fingers of one hand. I love duality and have been drawn to it for as long as I can remember. That's another important trait of mine, memory. I retain a huge amount of information. Anything that strikes me as of interest (and even some things that I'd rather forget) I can't help but remember. Literature, film dialogue, TV ads from the '80s, song lyrics, history, useless pop culture references, pointless trivia, so very much of it seems to stick. For some reason, though, I'm terrible with names. I love to listen but find myself talking for far too long if the company inspires it.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Intelligent people with something to say. People who've seen a lot more than the inside of a club or the bottom of a glass and are prepared to talk about it. I'm a listener and simply appreciate thoughtful company and conversation.
