About Me

I'm really super-shy, but I'm gradually trying to break out of that. Acting class is helping with that. =) Over the course of the past year, I've had this urge to try to express myself creatively - so I've just recently started acting, and I've been trying to teach myself how to play guitar. I love to sing - and I just love music in general. I'm on the verge of attempting songwriting - we'll see how that goes. =)

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

I love meeting genuinely nice, kind-hearted people. It's so easy to become angry, cynical, frustrated, and jaded with all the current events going on immediately around you or in the world as a whole. Anyone who can put a smile on my face is good with me.

Music:

I like a pretty wide range of music - I love anything that strikes an emotional chord. Favorites include:Acceptance, Augustana, Anna Nalick, Beth Waters, Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven, Better Than Ezra, Blue Merle, Citizen Cope, Courtney Jaye, DMB, eastmountainsouth, The Fray, Gavin DeGraw, Gregory Douglass, Guster, Hootie and the Blowfish, Howie Day, Jason Mraz, Jimmy Eat World, John Mayer, Jonathan Rice, Josh Kelley, Jump Little Children, Keane, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Madison Rose, Mae, Michael Buble, Michelle Featherstone, Mindy Smith, Missy Higgins, MUSE, Nathan Impellizzeri, Nickel Creek, Pat McGee Band, Patty Griffin, The Perishers, Ryan Adams, Sarah McLachlan, Sheryl Crow, Snow Patrol, Straylight Run, Stutterfly, Susie Suh, Syd, The Verdict, Vertical Horizon, and tons of others.

Movies:

American Beauty, Life as a House, East of Eden, The Passion of the Christ, The United States of Leland, Dumb and Dumber, The Green Mile, Billy Madison, Rain Man, The Princess Bride, What About Bob?, and many others.

Television:

It's all about Gilmore Girls. =) It's not just a girly show. It has great writing, direction, and superb acting (Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, Scott Patterson, Kelly Bishop - all deserving of as many awards as they could possibly receive).

Books:

The Scarlet Letter (I know, I think I'm the only one), In The Lake of the Woods, The Old Man and the Sea, The Color Purple, The Crucible, No Exit, Haroun and the Sea of Stories, Waiting for Godot, anything by Edgar Allan Poe

Heroes:

Sorry - I'm going to be corny here - my parents. They didn't have many advantages growing up, and the odds have often been against them, but they had the determination and drive to become successful in all areas of life. They're kind-hearted, patient, and incredibly giving.
