About Me

This is not about me, this is about my problems with Hip-Hop. With the exception of T.I., Lil Wayne, Outkast and Ludacris I cease to understand how The South and morons like Dipset are the barometers of Hip Hop's success. What is worse, lyricists like Lupe Fiasco, Pharaohe Monch and Mos Def remain locked outside the pot of gold that is commercial success. I desperately hope that a change comes soon as I cannot stand listening to Juelez Santana, Young Jeezy or (THE WORST) Jim Jones rhyme like five year olds, making me wish for the days of Noreaga pre-reggaeton. It seems that lack of lyrical ability has spread throughout this culture like an inexorable cancer, transforming an therwise vigorous, diverse culture and reducing it to a homogenous blob of bullshit.I encourage those of the East Coast rap style -heralded by the pioneers like Grandmaster Flash and Mele Mel and perfected by such greats as Biggie, Jay- Z, Black Moon, OGC, O.C., Jeru The Damaja and others- to rush those corporate offices and demand a stage to show that your creative gifts will always be in demand by those who truly appreciate hip hop.The regurgitation currently dominating the airwaveswill fade when those that like this poppy shit fade to the next thing. But I have faith that those who truly love this will usher in an unprecedented new era bolstered by incredible beats, creative artists and dynamic ideas. Until that day comes, I will remain the mad fan...........
