So yeah I have lived all over the place and my present home town is Toledo. So Now comes the time I tell you about what I do.Currently I have embarked on the epic battle of good vs evil….. aka The Night Life industry. Along with my partner (No Homo Though) Manny aka DJ Manny DJ Manny We fight the battle in an art of what we call “People Herding†Not to mention….. WERE DJS some pretty good ones at that!Between the two of us we manage this areas hands down most successful promotions teams. I oversee the performance of over 20 well trained and well equipped soldiers. These individuals are divided into three crew split by demographic and productivity.Justice League: Ten 21 and up All male and 1 very dedicated female. They are responsible for Toledo Ohio’s most successful night period. E.VOL Saturdays! In short, picture this, 35,000 sq feet, packed with a minimum of 1200 suites, ties, and cocktail dresses. We are responsible for NAILING fashion in the Toledo Night Life Scene. Every other week we bring huge designers into our bar to show of their clothes, not to mention our 12 E.VOL Models and 8 E.VOL Dancers. This night is ran by both Manny and I. 2 DJ 4 TURNTABLES all night long rocking Electro, and Progressive House music, not only that but REAL, ON THE FLY Mashups…… Sorry Kiddies, but what we do cant be done by any one DJ…….BET!Assassins: Ten 18 and up all male hustlers. Name of the Game Ninja like promotions. We sneak in drop the bomb and walk out with out a trace. Night: VOLUME! Turn It UP! Once again 3,500 square feet packed, but this time min 1,800 bodies bouncing. Two DJ again Manny and Myself rocking 4 DECKS and nothing but the hardest hitting Hip Hop, Rap, Top 40, Dance, and yet again the old ON THE FLY MASHUPS, no pre production here…. No expenses nor talent spared here…… PROMISE!Special Forces: Top producers and highest ranked Soldiers by weekly evaluations team up to conquer whatever get set in our path. Tried and tested, the 12 hour pop up party…….. You give us 12 hours notice we will send the word out and bring the masses. An owner we work with bet us a substantial about of money that we could not bring 100 people to his venue with 12 hours notice………We brought 437….. Guess what? We got paid double that night. So now, we dubbed that the 12 hour pop up party, in short, POP UP PARTY!Enough Talk about The Crew how about me for a change. DJ/Promoter…. Odd combo? Think not. What would be better then a one stop go to guy. Hell promoters ask yourself this. What pisses you off the most about that night usually? The DJ, the shit he/she says on the MIC. DJs ask yourself this, who pisses you off the most? The asshole running around the bar that thinks he owns the joint! HA guess what no promoter or dj to piss me off. LOL. Not a control freak or anything……..As a promoter:The obvious stuff is up top for E.VOL and VOLUME. Just before those two I was employed by a Country Rodeo Bar Chain called Whiskey Ranch L.L.C. To Direct the Toledo Branch’s marketing efforts, as well as DJ. If this does not tell you musically, or promotionally my versatility……. YOU RODE THE DAMN SHORT BUS SON!I have done several independent parties in other liquor license holding establishments, as well as other types of venues with amazing turn outs as well. Recent projects included The Bartenders Bash here in Toledo at SIN another 25 thousand square foot venue on a Wednesday with record turn outs for the space. This event was featured by our local Fox, and NBC New stations, WTWR Tower 98.3, the Toledo Blade, and Toledo city paper. Another recent event was dubbed BANG. This was held in a smaller venue with the concept of underground music at heart. This party is one of my “pre pay†party concepts where I pre sell all the tickets and the party and profits are paid for before the party even happens.
As a DJI play off of tech M5Gs and a Rane TTM57SL Mixer that I own. Reason for saying this is to let you know I am a turntable style DJ and I use Rane and Serato’s program called Scratch Live. I play by choice house music, Usually Electro, Funky, or Deep. I am well versed on all styles of electronic music. I have done events that span my sets from Booty all the way you progressive house. Now since Toledo is the least progressive of any city electronic music is only now becoming part of the mainstream so in order to make money as a dj I spanned out and also play regularly Hip Hop top 40 mainstream etc. I have an extensive music collection and enjoy throwing in an off color classics to add taste and style. I am extremely good with on the fly mash ups as I have huge collections of instrumentals and accapellas. I usually move pretty fast so I can keep energy up, but know when its time to slow down. A few years ago I took the direction of turntablism and host a scratch session every week at one of the venues I work with. I do this for all local Toledo and Detroit djs to come down and learn from one another. I fancy myself pretty damn good, however I am no where near the best.Where I have played:
I had a daily top 40 mix show on WVKS 92.5 kiss fm for around a year and a half and then stepped down to work for WTWR Tower 98.3 to host another mix show that was geared towards electronic music. I have guested on WXUT 88.3. As well have had Several weekly ISDN Live Feeds from night clubs here in Toledo on WVKS 92.5 Kiss FM. I have played nearly every live entertainment venue in Toledo at some point including Rain, Malibu, Dreamers, Bijou, Whiskey Ranch, Gatorz, Pearl, Shadow, Eclipse, Chaser, Rocket Inn, Jeds, Margarita Rocks, Ice Lounge, the dirty bird, Emporium, Liquid Ultra Lounge, SIN, Taboo, Pulse, I can go on for a while. Before I geared up with promotions and focused my efforts on just one venue I was booked nearly seven nights a week. I have Guest DJd Detroit’s largest nightclub called Seven and was offered a weekly Saturday residency but turned it down because of travel. Also I have played at Bento Columbus, Devine in Ypsilanti, and several other venues out of town. I would book more out of town but Toledo happens to be very lucrative for me so I usually stay here in town.For the past two years I have been ranked in the top two places as the Cities best promoter by Toledo city paper. In the past 4 years I have been ranked in the top two places as the cities best dj by Toledo city paper.THIS JUST IN Back on WTWR Tower 98.3 Saturday Weekly MIX show called GROOVE, gotta love the ELECTRONIC!Misc InfoI have extensive knowledge in all aspects of pro audio installation, tear down, and system repair and design. I have designed several audio installations here in Toledo in several night clubs, bars and restaurants. Projects as small as hooking up a radio receiver and a sirrus tuner. To projects as large as Nexo Alpha Line array tops and subs with crest amps as front of house, eaw wedges and crown macro tech amps for staging. Obviously this is a live entertainment venue. Speaking of Live entertainment venues I have extensive mechanical knowledge of running live sound boards of all shapes and sizes. As well I have designed sever local bar and night clubs light shows. I am very well versed in DMX programming from either Boards, or programs such as Martins Light Jockey, and Elations new program I cant remember the name of at the moment.IF YOU MANAGED TO READ THIS FAR…..
