I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

Expect the unexpected. Depending on who you ask, you could get a completely different story about what I'm like. My interests are extremely varied and my personality is pretty "unique". I can fit in any situation from an ivy-league cocktail reception to a Compton gangster party; but I don't really want to fit into either. I can have just as much fun getting out of control at a raging party as I do spending a day alone in a museum, solo-mountaineering, or walking the streets of LA all night taking pictures. I'm Obsessed with learning about everything and I'm very driven in my career. I have super-human aspirations, which I usually achieve, but I'm extremely down-to-earth and pretty easy-going. If I come off as a loner, a cold hearted asshole, or a lunatic; it's probably because I am, at least to some extent. But in kind of an endearing Edward Norton in Fight Club kind of way. The people that know me best would say that I'm the one person that everyone can depend on when they need someone sane to talk to, or to do something insane with. No matter how much you think you know me, I gurantee it's no more than the tip of the iceberg...

My Interests

I'm interested in laughing to the brink of eurination, obscure and foreign movies, CHOCOLATE MILK, debunkery, philosophy/logic, photography, taboo conversations (nothing is sacred to me:), mountaineering, landscaping, Obsessively learning about everything, painting, shooting, puppies, reading, kickboxing, cooking, motorbike, interior design, jiu-jitsu, writing, risking my life, this is going to take way too long . . . .

I'd like to meet:

Anyone that has anything interesting to say...

Music:

For the most part, anything that is NOT played on the radio; anything from classical and opera (nothing contemporary) to hip-hop, house, and metal. The exceptions being country and R&B, neither of which appeal to me in any medium.

Movies:

At last count (which was a while ago) I had seen about 600 movies (does that make me an officianado?). Almost all of my favorites are pretty obscure or foreign, but some of my more mainstream preferences are Fight Club, Amelie, Lost in Translation, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas . . . .

Television:

I gave my TV away. TV is complete mind-numbing bullshit. If I find myself watching TV at someone else's house, the few things that I enjoy are DEF POETRY JAM, Adult Swim, Samurai Jack, Space Ghost Coast-to-Coast, Jeapordy, anything on HGTV, TLC, Discovery, or History Channel. . . . and that's pretty much it. I'd rather stick a needle in my eye then watch "reality" TV or network "news".

Books:

"Why People Believe Weird Things", "Il Principe", . . . .basically any non-fiction, and tons of it! Anything from the dictionary to The Discourses. I'm going to get serious about filling in this category soon; I can feel it.

Heroes:

My mom, Hannibal Baraca, Samurai Jack, the guy that went hiking in the mountains by himself and got his arm caught under a boulder; after several days of trying to escape, and on the brink of starvation, cut off his own arm with a pocket knife and hiked back out of the mountains.

morality?

A rational process is a moral process. You may make an error at any step of it, with nothing to protect you but your own severity, or you may try to cheat it, to fake the evidence and evade the e...

Our homeless friends

5/16/06 Having been released from an enervating twelve-hour day at work, I made my way toward the Pershing Square Metro station to catch the red line to blue line home.   As usual there were a f...

Letter to my dad

Recently I wrote a letter to my dad - I wrote, "I really enjoy being here," but I accidentally wrote rarely instead of really. But I still wanted to use it so i crossed it out and wrote, "I rarely dri...

"Someone that knows how to treat a lady"

Over the years I've seen a cryptic message in the "Who I want to Meet" section on the profiles of many girls.  I think I have successfully translated it: "Someone that knows how to treat a lady" ...

Remember when . . . .

Remember when myspace was the new in thing? It seemed like it was spreading like wild-fire. Everywhere I went I would hear chatter about: "oh ya and I like totally hooked up with the guy from myspac...

You're not crazy

You think you're a tuff-guy? You think you're "craaaazzzy". You're not fucking crazy! Try robbing a bank with a baseball bat; now that's crazy. Sure you have to hit a few people (in the face) befo...

Where have I been?

I've been getting a bit of the old "where ya been?" lately. Well, admittedly I have been MIA (missing in action for the acronymically illiterate) for a little while now. For those of you who have be...

I will tell you one thing . . .

Dear Heavy Metal Midget and Speakerphone Hag, I hate both of you very much.  Its not just you I hate, but I hate all people like you - people who think they are special.  There are a few hundred of u...

Safe Mode update

Safe mode seems to be waning, but I'm not sure as to what it is acquiescing to. I'm not even sure if it is a mode any more preferable than safe mode (safe mode is actually fairly decent as long as you...
