I am here for Friends

About Me

A man born out of time whose pleasures are remarkably simple: puttering in my garden catching the subtle fragrance of a blossoming flower, a cup of chai, my wife and dog around me under a warm blanket snoozing, a silent chat with God, and the sound of morning birdsong. I find that as I age, the appreciation for quiet grows more profound as does who I have the honor to give my love to. I am so blessed!

My Interests

Gardening, Poetry, Irish history and YOU!To create a garden is to search for a better world. In our effort to improve on nature, we are guided by a vision of paradise. Whether the result is a horticultural masterpiece or only a modest vegetable patch, it is based on the expectation of a glorious future. This hope for the future is at the heart of all gardening.- Marina Schinz, Swiss born photographer and garden author.Do your bit to keep our country great! We don't have to show it off on foreign soil-there's plenty of the USA right here in North America!

The Easter Martyrs: What if...?

I have often pondered the soundness of martyrdom.  It seemed so tragic to me that a person should have to surrender their lives for their beliefs.  Even if it was pre-ordained by God.  ...

An imperfect, tolerant Roman Catholic: Thats ME!

OK, before all of you non-Catholics have your say, I feel the need to let you in on a revelation I had.  In all my years, I NEVER gave a damn what anyone believed.  I always said that i...

There is something about the soil...

If there is anything better in life than gardening (other than sex, OK?), I would love to know what it is.  Exercising in the outdoors surrounded by the flora and fauna of this wondrous orb ...

Am I a "Phonian"???

Why would a guy who is 100% Italian-American give a rat's doodle about the struggle for freedom in Northern Ireland?  Especially that he thinks Britain is a pretty groovy place?  What the bu...

If people were turtles...

You know what?  I know of no one on this planet who dislikes turtles.  Some cultures even revere them.  Kids go nuts for them (at the cost of many a red-eared sliders' life), and adults...

SEX (Now that I have your attention) and music...

OK.  Call it my Catholic school or musical upbringing, but can people actually make love with music playing in the backround?  I have heard of this feat of skill, but cannot imagine it. ...

Give me strength (’Cause I need to choke some people!)

Middle management BITES!  It's like you're the meat in a BS sandwich.  You don't have any REAL decision making power to oust the sub-dummy blockheads below you, and if you go to the bos...

"Funtobementalists"

Ain't religion grand?  People worship it, die for it, kill for it, distort it and a plethora of other actions so that they can gain some sort of really nifty Afterlife.  Wow!  And then ...

What I want to be when I grow up!

OK.  I have thought long and hard about this: I think I would REALLY be good as one of the Four Horseman of the Apocalypse.  Now I know what you're thinking: Carlo doesn't know anything abou...

OK.  It's a gorgeous day.  I'm making this one short!  Go outside in this freakishly warm weather in Pennsylvania and revel in our warming of the planet.  It's the least we could d...
