Note: These are not all the combinations but these are the major band changes in Jimi's career. Also there are more supporting guitarists and percussionists in certain songs as well. With each song I will try to give as much information as I can.
Influences: Blues, R&B, etc.
Sounds Like: In this section, all details available about each song will be posted:
The public is welcome to contribute
Ezy Ryder- A (early?) jam of Ezy Ryder. Sounds fairly clean on some tracks, may be a guitar overdub by Jimi, or just multiple guitars at the same time. By drum styles, I guess
Buddy Miles, but it's hard to tell. The two main guesses of studios are Record Plant and Electric Lady Studios, but there are also a few minor guesses, the likes of: Olmstead Studios, Olympic Studios, and Baggy's Studios. Since there are many recording dates of this song it's nearly impossible to know the date of recording. The earliest jam recorded of Ezy Ryder is Feb. 16 1969, although the session notes say "(Slow)Ezy Ryder", contradict to the fast speed of this jam. This makes the probable recording date between Dec. 18 1969 and Aug. 26 1970. This also makes it probable for the drummer to be either
Mitch Mitchell or Buddy Miles (Likely Buddy), although the bassist is most definitely
Billy Cox
Band: Band of Gypsys or
Revised Jimi Hendrix Experience
I have no current information on the extra percussionist(s) (Congas), or extra guitar players (if there were any).

nick nicely would hazard a guess that- "theres a minimum of 3 guitar parts (two on the riff one on lead) and a 4th towards the end ."
And commented that:
"The 4th guitar shows no trademark Hendrixisms and indeed could be anybody ."

Bolero-Personally one of my favorites :) This is a more acoustic song, a ballad if you will. The bassist is
Billy Cox and the drummer's
Mitch Mitchell. The drummer is Mitch Mitchell not only because of the obvious playing style, but because even the earliest recording date (Feb. 1 1970) mentions that it's Mitch on drums, therefore Buddy Miles would not have been even present at any future recordings. This song was most definitely a work of the Revised Jimi Hendrix Experience. It is interesting to note that when Jimi and the crew were hard at work for two days (Aug. 22-23 1970) editing songs to be included in the next studio album (First Rays of The New Rising Sun [The album was never finished]), "Bolero" was included in the set list of the songs being edited for the album. Although... a master of "Bolero" had not been achieved in
any studio sessions.
The drum contribution to this song is absolutely amazing, and Jimi's guitar part is capturing and too amazing to describe in words, It's probably one of his best. The way Jimi and Mitch are truly locked in with each other makes the creation of this song from another dimension...
In all senses, this song is Legendary, literally.

World Traveler- This is a jam with Larry Young, an up and coming talented pianist/organist. The drummer and bassist are
Mitch Mitchell and
Billy Cox. It was recorded at Record Plant, and is sourced from a bootleg CD, "The McLaughlin Sessions", which only has four songs. This song is actually two that were once split, but I personally re-merged them back together, so that everybody could get the full experience of the jam, beginning to end. This jam is a refreshing new roller coaster on the ears, and a great addition to the collection of these gems of music known as "The Unheard Songs".
Note: The left channel (or speaker) of this song dips from 3:30-5:50
Also: Information on "World Traveler" from www.jimi-hendrix.com is confusing, and because of that I am leaving this information out although any of you can go check it out for yourself and message me if you can make sense of it.
Band: Revised Jimi Hendrix Experience
Extra musicians: Larry Young plays the organ.

Mario boasts that- "i am the first play for 'World Traveler'"
And comments:
"hella cool song....
its funky, cool"

New Rising Sun (uncensored version)- From the unreleased version of the album Crash Landing (which means as far as I know Alan Douglas hasn't messed with it). This song doesn't have many resemblances to "Land of the New Rising Sun", which Jimi has played live, which leads me to believe this song was mis-titled. However, since there are no other names I know of, "New Rising Sun" will stick.
Buddy Miles is on drums and
Billy Cox is on bass. An extensive use of guitar and recording effects are used in this song. From another dimension. A very groovy and intense song I must say!

Freedom Jam- This early instrumental jam of "Freedom" includes an extra guitar player playing. From just listening, I'm thinking the drummer's
Mitch Mitchell, although I don't know who the bassist is, probably
Billy Cox seeing as it was a late work of Jimi's. But I don't know who the other guitar player is! :(
This is an awesome jam, and from what I see from trading groups and bootlegs... Well I don't see this one! Which is excellent, because that means it is mostly unheard ;)
Enjoy this funkadelic adventure into pure freedom. :)
Band: Revised Jimi Hendrix Experience
Extra Musicians: A temporarily unknown guitar player
