During the 2004-2005 Season my Husband I started going to watch the Portland WinterHawks. We went to maybe a half dozen games. We got hooked. My favorite players were Cody McLeod & Robin Big Snake. This past year 2005-2006, my husband Stuart and I are involved the WinterHawks Booster Club. We were both elected onto the board for the Booster Club. It's a lot of fun. The Booster club holds various events through out the hockey season trying to raise money for the players education fund. We have pizza parties atleast once a month where you can come and meet a few of the players. One of the big things we did this past year was have the players decorate glass ball christmas ornaments. They had fun and it raised over $1,000.00 for the education fund. During the 2004-2005 season they had an event called Tip the Hawks. This is where the player basically within reason did anything to earn your tips. Hense the mullet wig on Blake Grenier, the Afro on Darrell May & Scooter, Frazer wearing an apron & Kyle Bailey in the dress. What most people dont know is that the WinterHawks team consists of young men between the ages of 16-20. They come from all over the world to play here. While they are here they must attend school, whether it be high school or college. They also do some volunteer work around the community. Seeing what these guys do has earned my respect. Since the end of last season we have had 4 or 5 players sign NHL contracts. If you haven't been to a WinterHawks game, come on out & see them before they make it to the big time. You'll have a blast. Below is a slide show that I put together from some of the events they they have done and a couple of game shots. Come on out this season and join in on the fun. :)

| View | Add FavoriteThis is my dog Turk aka Turkey. He's a big bundle of love. He's approx. 120 lbs and thinks that he's a lap dog. He was named by my son after a friend of ours, by combining his name (Terry Kirk). I'm sure he's going to love me posting that on here but most people know anyways. :) We got Turk from the pound when he was 3 months old. At that time he weighed in at 35 lbs., I should have known he was going to be a big dog. Most people are surprised at just how big he is. He is taller than most dogs. Were not sure really what mix he is. But he is the best dog. Stuart calls him a momma's boy because he follows me everywhere. We did not do any training with him but he does do high 5's & high 10's and knows the difference, he sits, lays down on command. If he is laying down and is looking around and you tell him to put his head down, he does just that. In order for him to go bye bye he goes and gets his leash and carries it to the car. Upon arriving home he will bring his leash back into the house. He's a smart cookie!!!
