About Me

My name is Boris and yes ... (seeing that my name often gives it away) I happen to be Russian (actually Ukrainian to be exact). I moved from Kiev, Ukraine to Los Angeles at age of 12 and have resided in sunny So Cal ever since. (for those not familiar with Eastern Europe - Ukraine is a country nesstled between post communist Russia (CCCP baby!) and soon to be EU powers Poland, Hungary and Romania (plus a few other Slavic nations ... lol).
So in 1991, I moved to L.A. with my family (parental units and lil' sis) and have lived in Hollywood, San Fernando and San Gabriel Valleys. My family plays a large part in my life, both in a motivational and supportive sense. With their support I have been able to achieve the goals that I have set for myself thus far. I guess its safe to say that a part of me remains securely Euro - family comes first. Yet, friends don't finish far in second either ...
Maybe it is just me (or the fact that I have lived in L.A. one days too many) but it is often hard to find people in this city that are real, honest, genuine and caring (Tinseltown effect?). Hence, I am glad and thankful to have a strong and supportive circle of diverse friends (know as United Nations) with whom I have shared my ups, downs, highs (no pun intended...lol) and lows. Spasibo! (see I told you its spelled with an O).
Hmmm ... about me. Welps, I view myself as a fun, easy going, drama-free-and-loving-it type of person. (Although just like shyte (thats spelled Shit in American) ... drama happens ... so I at least try not to step in it). Be it the Virgo in me or some other demon that possesses me, I am very goal oriented, which in turn at times makes me a work-a-holic [perks of the working world I guess]. Currently I work as a registered nurse (insert own fave line from "Meet the Fockers" here) in a Cardiac/Thoracic Intensive Care Unit at Cedars Sinai Hospital (ya ya ... the one where all the celebrities go to get better ... Why oh why did Pamela Anderson have to get Hep C?) Not going to bore you here with details of my job, but for those interested - curriculum vitae and references available upon request.
In my times away from the corp slave master (spelled ... "The Man"), I enjoy hanging out with my friends and meeting genuine, interesting and easy-going people. My biggest interest and hobby (or addiction) is travel. I really enjoy visiting places I have not been to before and exploring what those destinations have to offer (especially internationally). I think that by traveling the world one is able to get a broader perspective on life, as well as truly appreciate the things we in the States take for granted. With that said, any and all input on destinations for the "Must Visit Before Dying" list are welcomed.
Mkay ... any more info and this will turn into a double spaced, college ruled essay, so will quit while ahead.

My Interests

Hanging out with friends and coming up with plans for our next travelin' abroad adventures. Also dig billiards, darts, PS2 (cause you got to!), Texas Hold 'Em (Tourney at my place), Futbol (or if you wish ... soccer - Juve and Real Madrid being my 2 fave teams), electronic music (DJing, mixing, cutting - just love all the work that goes into a really great set), critical and emergency care (I dont work in the field just cause it seems cool).

I'd like to meet:

People who can hang with my work hard/play harder work ethic. ;-)

Music:

Music is a tough category to select only a few favorites because I find myself interested in a few genres that will actually get me up and moving. So I guess if I were to list them by genre: Energy/Hardcore partyin (couldn't resist) - Hard house, Hard Trance, House and D&B. Chillout Music: Reggae (Roots for the "Chill atmosphere", Dancehall for "get on up and move" atmosphere). Mainstream party music: Hip-Hop and Reggaeton. Oldskool Faves: 80s KROQ playlist (the likes of Depeche Mode, U2, Cure, Red Hots, etc.)

Movies:

In general, I love comedies with latest being Wedding Crashers and 40-yr-old Virgin (old skool faves - Half Baked, Encino Man, Pool Hall Junkies, Booty Call, Swingers). Other genres I like are action/martial arts flicks [Ong Bak (The Thai Warrior) was freakin awesome!, Hero, Iron Monkey, Kill Bill 1 and 2, etc] and epics (Gladiator, Braveheart, etc.)

Television:

Comedy central with Dave Chapelle being THE best show to ever hit cable (hope he decides to give the show another run - I am Rick James Bitch!). I also like Carlos Mencia, Dane Cook Special and D.L. Hughley's show. [hmm .. guess its safe to assume I like comedy].

Other shows that I dig are Nip/Tuck (gotta love drama mixed with plastic surgery), ER (when I dont get enough at work), Scrubs, Desperate Housewifes (Mmmm ... Eva Longoria), and Iron Chef (Hiroyuki Sakai is da' shiznit!).

Books:

Aside from fact that most of my reading was overshadowed by reading Anatomy/Physio/Nursing textbooks, gotta give props to Dan Brown and his series of books - namely Da' Vinci Code and Angels & Demons [great writer, great novels!].

Heroes:

Maximus (from Gladiator) - simply b/c anyone who lives through having a flesh wound stuffed with maggots (not very sanitary) and later comes back to nearly overtake an empire is ... well a Hero.
