I started collecting compact discs back in 1986, when the first ones started rolling out. I’m up to 700 now. But that means nothing with these audio options these days. Anyway, in my bulky binders are: a-ha, Boston, Cheap Trick, Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, The Eagles, Erasure, Fleetwood Mac, The Outfield, Poco, The Fixx, The Innocence Mission, Alice in Chains, Spain, Tool... then I grew up and started listening to: Death Cab for Cutie, Postal Service, Muse, Coldplay, Audioslave, Jimmy Eats World. My tastes evolved in time as I started to trust and consider the taste of others - opening up the door for a wider range of tune appreciation. I learned that it is not wise to be narrow-minded about music - you may miss something wonderful.
Since I’m deaf, I have to submit my driver’s license to obtain one of those goofy tacky infared headsets in order for me to hear any dialog in a movie theater. Prior to that, I just guessed what the actors were saying, developing a plot of my own. You have no idea do you? This is fact. Sometimes I was way off, other times, my story was much better. I’m going to make a couple phone calls.
Loved TV as a kid and this is why I have the reality-grasping problems I have today. ESPN/Fox sports is about it for me, because to me, sporting events display the ‘truth’. Just ask those juiced up baseball players and any of those 'natural' athletes on the WWF. Everything on TV is a matter of fact, right? Honestly, it collects dust.... and I currently do not have cable ... amazing isn't it. I'll survive.I'll rent movies, but am easily bored with that industry."Don't like no hollywood movie stars..."
I inherited my grandmother’s collection of classic American novels (original prints). They look real ‘purdy’ in my oak (stained pine) bookcase. I’ve started a few of them but they are rather fragile. I’ve thumbed through them, but have to finish all those Damn Brown books that are so addicting. Other than that, I read a lot of American History and try to decipher why these stories are being told the way they are. I do not believe everything I read, see, or hear (no pun intended). I’m quite the skeptic. I’m a JFK buff and I have spent some time in Dallas and climbed upon the monument sign describing the Dealy Plaza incident back in November '63 and underlined the word ‘alleged assassin’. I’m quite the skeptic…oh, I said that already. It is so fun to think for yourself. Crazy concept but, yeah.... I'm going that route.
Snoopy. (sans that gawdaweful piss yellow bird-friend of his). Many of my real life heros have failed me, therefore, in a beagle I trust.
