About Me

Wow, it's been awhile since I've been to this MySpace. I've since set up a band MySpace . Here you'll find original work and up-to-date information regarding what I'm doing these days.
Who is Digital Defiant?
What a good question. I'm a complex person and it shows in my music and dj sets. As for dj'ing and performing, it's been a part of my life for a great many years. DJ Digital Defiant, has been involved with the electronic music scene for many years. With over a decade of experience he has held many hats. Involved with the San Diego electronic music scene since 1992, Digital D has been through many trial and tribulations that plague a growing scene. His early days as a regular club attendee in the early 80’s/late 90’s set the path to his first experiences with techno and house music at a warehouse party in Kowloon, Hong Kong. After many years living in San Diego, California where he founded Shiva Studios, he and his son (an aspiring extreme sports athelete and drummer) have relocated to the entertainment capital of the world, Las Vegas, Nevada. This move also inspired Digital D to put more focus on sound engineering and electronic music production. Under the moniker of Twisted D.U.O. he has produced several downtempo and trance tracks as well as done remixes for artists like Adam Freeland, D:Fuse, and The Prodigy.
Playing Style
Using both live elements and digital medias Digital Defiant plays full-on rave, psychedelic and progressive trance, ambient and downtempo, breaks.
History
Over time, Digital Defiant has forged a truly unique sound combining psychedelic and progressive trance. When asked to describe his sound, he replies with: “Twisted steel with sex appeal.” By combining chants, movie samples, and hard-rocking guitar riffs with lofty melodies and techno beats, his sound has been unparalleled. Under the production name of Twisted D.U.O. he creates a new sound of mash-up by using classic punk and industrial rock sounds and with techno-electronic beats. This sound has since taken him across the country. Having played in various places like Las Vegas (where he got his start opening for the Crystal Method and now resides), the desert raves in Arizona and California, to the southern regions of New Orleans and Florida, his sound and style not only makes you move, but makes you think as well.
Influences
It was in the mid-1980’s where Digital Defiant discovered his love for music. As a teenager in a broken home, Digital D found his escape in music. Always an aficionado of dance music styles with a partial liking to breakbeat styles, he created his own bedroom “studio” consisting of a standard hi-fi turntable, a double-cassette player, and a Teac reel-to-reel tape recorder. All of which was connected to a home stereo amplifier and standard stereo speakers. It was there where he would create his own “extended versions” of various songs from artists like Depeche Mode, Information Society, Madonna, and other alternative and dance artists. He would then give these tapes to his friends and family to listen to. One of those was his uncle, Jimmy Padilla a popular dj with a residency at the infamous Palladium in Hollywood, California. It wasn’t long until his uncle would sneak his young protégé into the club and have him pull records for crowds of nearly 3000. Today, his electronic music influences are the likes of superstars John ‘00’ Fleming, Christopher Lawrence, Astral Projection, and Infected Mushroom.
