Offering a blend of remarkable industrial melodies and heavy metal inspired compositions, Reverend Agony is a fusion of keen musical talent and impressive performances.
Reverend Agony was started in 1999 by lead vocalist, Dementia. Being an enthusiast of industrial music with influences such as Nine Inch Nails and Skinny Puppy, he compiled a home studio in which he diligently designed and perfected his music. Two years later, he acquired a full band to create their first LP, "Tales of a Fallen Beauty Queen".
Reverend Agony worked themselves mercilessly among the local scene in that time, playing innumerable shows and assiduously improving their stage performances. Their determined labor was rewarding, establishing a live performance brimful of intensity and stage theatrics that entertained and pleased. Hence in 2002, Reverend Agony won the "Best of Rockford" award for Illlinois’ largest music festival, On The Waterfront.
The bands hard work ethics and refreshingly unique sound sets them apart in the Rockford music scene and other music scenes alike. Through their own accord they have managed to create, record, master, release, and tour in part of their EP "Lies" and LP "Tales of a Fallen Beauty Queen". Offering one of the only industrial influenced sounds in the area, their draw can oftentimes be immense, and they never leave the crowd’s hopeful expectations unfulfilled. In 2003, they started extensively touring the Midwest. During this time they released their single, "The Burden of Knowledge" which received vast airplay, including abroad in Australia, Portugal, and Europe.
During the years of 2004, 2005 and 2006, the band engrossed themselves in performances around the region and took the opportunity to open for national acts such as 40 Below Summer (Crash Music), Acumen Nation (Crash Music / Cracknation), American Head Charge (Nitrus Records), Dark Tranquility (Century Media), Devil Driver (Roadrunner Records), Dope (Artemis Records), KMFDM (Metropolis Records), More Machine Than Man (Invisible Records), MushroomHead (Mega Force Records), Nocturne(Underground Inc.), Opeth(Roadrunner Records), Pitbull Daycare (Cleopatra Records), Project .44(Invisible Records), Slick Idiot (Invisible Records) and Society 1(Crash Records). On August 10th, 2005, Reverend Agony released their album, ’Staring Into The Abyss’ which was soon picked up by Hot Topic to be sold at seven Chicagoland area stores.
Currently, the band is in the studio putting the finishing touches on their much anticipated new album, which is slated for a summer (2007) release as well as gearing up for their summer/fall tour.
