Growing up in a Scottish family meant that every family member had to sing a song at every party, especially New Year, and Kirsty, the only girl, never needed any persuasion. Like most little girls, she loved to sing. However, her real debut didn’t come about until she was 18 when she sang at a Karaoke night. The crowd wanted more and so Kirsty went to every Karaoke she could and sang everything the crowd wanted to hear. Four years and many karaoke nights later she joined the group EMUL8.
Along came motherhood and over the next four years her acoustic song writing had to take second place as being a mum took up the majority of the hours in her day.
She still sang every chance she had and is no stranger to Edinburgh’s open microphone establishments.
When she was 29 she passed her music higher and learned improvised singing.
In that same year she adopted the name of a family member and ‘Jackson Blues’ was formed.
The other members of the group were Slovakian guitarist Joe(Joseph) Mastenna and Sardinian drummer Oscar Mannoni.
They gave many performances, around Edinburgh and Sardinia, before heading off in 2006 in different directions to pursue other avenues.
Kirsty, Joe and Oscar remain close friends and in Kirsty’s own words, ‘the boys are the best of the best and can play anything’.
Kirsty feels that she is now ready for another move in her career. WATCH HER SPACE
